No matter if you are in a snake draft or an auction, knowing when to take your quarterback is one of the toughest decisions on draft day.

In recent years, drafting QBs early has become more accepted in the fantasy football community. However, when you are dealing with a budget, this can make spending big on one of those elite options even a tougher choice.

Getting a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson is never a bad idea. It's a special kind of peace never having to worry about the QB position all season long.

However, that gash in your budget might cause you some anxiety. Maybe you're more of a late-round QB drafter, then you spend mere pennies to guy who could still have solid weeks.

By using projections like this, you can better understand what kind of drafter you are when it comes to the QB position. Knowing how comfortable you are spending big portions of your budget on those early QBs can help you form an idea when to pull the trigger.

Keep these strategies in mind when reading the full QB auction values cheat sheet below.

How does QB compare to other positions in auction leagues?

In most fantasy football auction leagues, quarterbacks generally cost less relative to other positions. Top-tier RBs and WRs have a bigger impact on weekly scoring.

This is a sign that shouldn’t overspend here, especially in 1QB leagues, unless your league heavily rewards passing stats.

Of course, be sure to adapt with the way the room is bidding on players, adjusting bids up or down depending on the market. Your cheat sheet is a guide, not gospel; be ready to adjust based on how your league-mates are bidding.

Also, if you get an elite wide receiver who's certain to chew up a huge percentage of targets, throwing an extra dollar or two on his quarterback to ensure the stack could make a huge difference.

Auction salary cap tips for drafting QBs

  • Nominate high-priced QBs early to drain other players’ budgets. One of the best practices is to fade the positions you don't want to spend up for by forcing others to bid on the stars.
  • Track tier breaks and grab the cheapest quarterback in the group. Tier drafting is essential to retain flexibility in your strategy.
  • Change strategy if an elite QB goes cheaper than expected. As previously mentioned, this applies if you want a logical, profitable QB-WR stack.
