Fantasy Baseball 3B Rankings: Top players, sleepers at third base for 2020 image

Third base is as loaded as ever this year, and while multi-position eligibility for some key players can make it slightly thinner than it appears, there's little doubt that every team in your fantasy baseball league should have a high-quality player at the hot corner after your draft. Our 2020 3B rankings feature plenty of familiar faces in the top tier, but with a host of intriguing new sleepers and potential breakouts, there are a variety of ways to devise a draft strategy for third base.

Primarily a power position, there aren't a lot of SBs to be found at the top of the 3B rankings. Jose Ramirez is really the only true five-category threat, which could make him a popular second-round target in a lot of drafts despite a down 2019. Ramirez can certainly fill up a box score, but Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, and Anthony Rendon are safer bets in the other four categories.

2020 Fantasy Baseball Rankings:
Catcher | First | Second | Short | Outfield | Starter | Reliever | Top 300

There are plenty of homers available at the position, starting with Eugenio Suarez and his 49 HRs from last year, and you can even find .300 hitters like Yoan Moncada and Rafael Devers. Devers was also second in the majors in runs scored last year (129), and he, along with Kris Bryant, who's slated to open the season as the Cubs' leadoff hitter, will likely rank highly in that oft-ignored category again.

2020 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers:
Catcher | First | Second | Third | Short | Outfielder | Starter | Each team

If you want to wait at the position and get some SBs to go along with decent pop, you can target Danny Santana, Scott Kingery, Ian Happ, or Tommy Edman, but you'll be missing out on a lot of reliable HR and RBI production from guys higher up in the rankings.

2020 Fantasy Baseball Tiers, Draft Strategy:
Catcher | First | Second | Third | Short | Outfield | Starter | Reliever

Ultimately, 3B is the new 1B. You can find high-average, run-producing sluggers early in your draft, or you can wait a bit and get middling-average, run-producing sluggers later. Either way, you need those run-producing sluggers, so be cognizant of that while you're building your team. There are plenty of interesting fliers -- many of whom are eligible at other positions -- worth drafting later on for your bench, but don't pass on a proven stud in the first five or six rounds just because the position is deep. Draft the stud and draft another good player later, preferably one who can play multiple positions. That's how to truly maximize all the 3B-eligible talent in your draft.
