In the Sonic and Knuckles running back room for the Detroit Lions, Sonic is having all the fun.
Jahmyr Gibbs is putting up historic numbers of late. David Montgomery is doing a heck of a lot of watching.
That has created concerns for fantasy football managers who are relying on Montgomery.
He's coming right into the spotlight early this week, too. The Lions play the first game of Thanksgiving Day against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.
The fantasy decision here could be a tough one.
Should I drop David Montgomery in fantasy?
No, don't drop David Montgomery from your fantasy football team.
It is fair to bench him for Week 13 against the Packers. They've got a good run defense, and Gibbs is on a particularly impressive run.
But the Lions still like Montgomery, too, and he has had strong games this season. They just haven't come the past couple weeks.
If Gibbs were to go down with an injury, Monty would be an RB1 immediately.
Even a healthy Gibbs will likely get series off here and there to keep him fresh. The Lions have bigger games in their future.
For fantasy purposes, Montgomery will remain a solid floor FLEX play the rest of the way, at least. He's a TD threat in a high-powered offense. That's way too valuable to drop.
