Dirk's journey has been one of steady building and perseverance. After earning a PDC tour card in 2011 and losing then regaining it by 2020, he truly burst onto the scene that same year with a stunning run to the World Grand Prix final – toppling big names like Gary Anderson and Simon Whitlock before falling short in the final - a breakthrough performance that announced his arrival at the elite level.

Since then, The Titan has added six Players Championship titles and reached several major semifinals and finals, including the 2022 World Series of Darts Finals. He’s become known as one of the most prolific 180 hitters on the tour, averaging one maximum every 0.38 legs in 2022 – a testament to his power scoring.

Unfortunately the Dutchman's high energy walk on style also led to a major set back in 2023. Due to a freak fall during one such entrance  DVD's career seemed to hit a slump, a variety of injury set backs and a loss of form resulted. However, the 2025 season seemed to signal a return toward his best a=nd he once again began to climb the rankings.

Dirk’s flamboyant stage presence extends off it. He works on an aubergine farm alongside his darts career, carrying his signature eggplant mascot onto big oche stages (leading to his second nickname Aubergenius)  and recently made headlines after setting a fan’s chest hair alight during a post-match celebration – a bizarre but memorable moment that perfectly captures his unpredictable aura.
