Where is Vic Rauter? Why the longtime voice of the Brier is missing from select matches image

The 2023 Brier has kicked off today from London, which means the voice of Canadian curling returns.

Longtime TSN curling play-by-play announcer Vic Rauter is back in the booth this week as the Canadian men's curling championship begins.

Rauter has been a part of the TSN's curling coverage for over 25 years. The Brier is the first of a string of national and international tournaments he will cover this spring, including the World Curling Championships.

However, Rauter will not be in the booth for every game at the Brier. The Sporting News has more details on why Rauter is missing from select broadcasts.

Where is Vic Rauter?

Rauter is set to be in the booth for the 2023 Brier, but he won't be the play-by-play voice for every match.

Bryan Mudryk is going to be splitting duties with Rauter. Mudryk has typically done the morning sessions while Rauter is on for the afternoon and evening games.

Russ Howard is expected to be Rauter's pairing on the mic, which has been the case in past years for TSN's coverage. Cathy Gauther returns as an analyst as well.

When is the 2023 Briers?

This tournament starts on Friday, March 3, and runs until Sunday, March 12.

Pool play is from March 3-9. The playoff and page playoffs take place on March 10-11 before the semifinals and final wrap up the action on March 12.

What channel is the 2023 Briers on?

The Briers will air on TSN, with live streaming available on TSN.ca and in the TSN app.

Longtime curling announcer Vic Rauter is set to be in the booth, splitting play-by-play duties with Bryan Mudryk. Cathy Gauthier and Russ Howard join the team as analysts.
