Both Benavidez and Yarde have neglected to play down the notion of this 175-pound showdown becoming a "shootout". Ultimately, there's no point disputing the obvious. Both fighters have 24 knockouts apiece in their careers.
There is the slight caveat that three of Benavidez's past four have gone the distance, including both of his bouts since stepping up from super middleweight. But Yarde's two previous world-title challenges against Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbiev came after the unorthodox and heavy-handed Londoner hurt and troubled both esteemed champions before running out of gas.
Despite being a relatively new addition to the light heavyweight ranks, fight week speculation suggested a gaunt-looking Benavidez was struggling to get his body down to the championship limit. That could be good news for Yarde, although it might persuade Benavidez to double down on not wanting a lengthy evening.
If they light the fuse and go to war, it will be a thrilling affair with both men having success. But Benavidez's faster hands and feet, along with his superior punch variety, should see him retain his title after the halfway point.

Officially - and rightly, given everything that went down that week - Haney remains an undefeated fighter. But the unknown heading into this intriguing title fight is how much the Ryan Garcia ordeal took from a man aiming to become a three-weight world champion. In their controversy-laced grudge match in April 2024, Haney was hurt badly by a left hook early on, before being dropped in rounds seven, 10 and 11 as he failed to get away from Garcia's honey punch.
'King Ry' was awarded a majority decision in a fight where he came in three-and-a-quarter pounds overweight. A positive doping test after the bout saw the official verdict changed to a no contest. Haney returned with an insipid 12-round win over Jose Carlos Ramirez in May - a very different encounter to the Garcia fight, but one where there was evidence of the San Franciscan looking gunshy if you wanted to see it.
If there are lingering metal scars from the Garcia fight, Norman is a man capable of exposing them. Coming into this bout after a brutal away-from-home KO of Jin Sasaki, the 24-year-old will test his compatriot's aptitude up at 147 pounds. If Haney can relocate the magic of old, he can box smartly to become a three-weight champion. But Norman is the man in form and might force Haney back to the canvas before closing out a competitive points win.

This fight has echoes of Rodriguez's superb unification victory over Sunny Edwards at flyweight in December 2023. Martinez is another undefeated, technically excellent champion who only lacks notable knockout power.
Rodriguez is a devilish puzzle for anyone around the lower weights because his aggressive counterpunching and exquisite ringcraft make him a match for the best technicians. He gave Edwards no choice but to stand and trade, which is always how Bam wants to operate, given he has dynamite in his fists.
Expect Bam to get the job done within the championship distance. He might have to look up to bantamweight for a challenge that can truly extend him.

Precocious southpaw Mason has be put on a fast-track to the elite level and he has a chance to be crowned world champion at just 21 years of age.
Although Noakes is seven years his opponents' senior, he has had two fewer professional fights, with 17 to Mason's 19. Both men have knocked out all but two of their opponents.
The term "firefight' could also end up being applied here if the styles gel. Each has established championship chops, with Mason having ceded his NABF title to take this fight, while Noakes has taken the traditional route of amassing the British, Commonwealth and European belts.
Noakes is a very good fighter, whose career will be one to watch with interest. But the sense is that Mason might just be a little bit special and have the speed and punch-picking to make a statement in Riyadh.
