We'll know who will play in Super Bowl 60 after these two upcoming weekends.

Besides picking the Super Bowl winner, the chatter around SB LX props will start to grow louder.

The most famous such betting market outside of winning the coin toss is the game's vote for the Most Valuable Player award.

The strategy may seem obvious. As you'll see, one position typically dominates.

However, assessing each situation year-to-year should prove that we should keep our options open and look at outlier scenarios when betting on the NFL championship game MVP.

Here are the Super Bowl 60 Most Valuable Player odds at various sportsbooks, selected and current as of Tuesday at noon ET.

Super Bowl MVP betting strategy: QBs, skill position players, defenders?

Super Bowl MVP positional breakdown and tips

As you'll see in the previous Super Bowl MVP winners table below, quarterbacks dominate the category, having won 34 of 59 Super Bowl MVPs.

Here's the full positional breakdown:

  • 34 quarterbacks
  • 9 wide receivers
  • 7 running backs (4 halfbacks, 3 fullbacks)
  • 4 linebackers
  • 2 defensive linemen
  • 2 safeties
  • 1 cornerback

Overall, that's:

  • 34 QB (last: 2024, Jalen Hurts)
  • 16 offensive skill players (last: 2021, Cooper Kupp)
  • 9 defensive players  (last one: 2015, Von Miller)

Generally, the QB favoritism stems from voter positional bias and the fact that quarterbacks control most of the game, therefore providing the most evidence in their favor.

Sometimes, non-quarterbacks -- more notably wide receivers via those highly valued quarterbacks -- absolutely abuse the box score with a jam-packed statistical game. (See: Cooper Kupp, and Julian Edelman in 2018).

Defenders often need to dominate. Broncos pass-rusher Von Miller tallied 6 total tackles, 2.5 sacks (both strip-sacks before a TD), 2 forced fumbles, 2 QB hits, and 1 pass defended in defeating the Panthers.

Of course, you'll find other names who've won solely by memorable moments. Patriots LB Malcolm Smith chiefly won due to his game-winning interception at the goal line in 2013 against the Seahawks.

Budget for sprinkle bets across numerous players on different playoff paths

If you have discretionary funds to place bets now, aim to account for numerous possibilities and target players with paths mentioned below.

⚠️  What to know for early betting on Super Bowl MVP

  • Betting on sports award voting and other futures not directly tied to game/season results is not available in every state. (This New York resident shakes his fist in the air.) Check your home state's regulations on these markets.
  • Keep an eye on whether your SB 60 MVP bet comes with the label "All Bets Action" or something similar. This means that even if your player is eliminated from the playoffs before reaching the Super Bowl, you will not get your refund back. These speculative markets do not allow you to be recouped if you don't even get a chance to win. Of course, as always, bet at your own risk, but beware that you may not have a refunded stake as a fallback plan.

Super Bowl 60 MVP: best value bets

Caleb Williams, QB, Bears (+1800) • bet365 Sportsbook / Caesars Sportsbook

Chicago's playmaking defense and possible homefield advantage (hey, Niners could beat Seattle, right?) Could open up the path for No. 18 to lead Chicago to The Big Game.

The playmaker leaves us on the edge of our seats for either positive or negative results, but his splash style could produce big moments in the championship game. As the second-to-best-priced quarterback, we can go along for what could be a wild, fun ride.

Puka Nacua, WR, Rams (+2200) • FanDuel Sportsbook

The frequent SB 60 MVP favorite's favorite target should at least get consideration. Nacua should be close to being a favorite.

Same goes for:

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seahawks (+1800) • BetMGM Sportsbook / bet365 Sportsbook

Most Super Bowl simulations probably say JSN would need to have a big game for Seattle to win the Lombardi Trophy.

Barring touchdown-scoring luck, running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet likely will cancel each other out in the eyes of voters. (Too bad: Given Seattle's penchant for the run, betting on one of them is tempting.... Stay tuned for updated analysis if one stands out.)

James Cook, RB, Bills (+8000) • BetMGM Sportsbook

Though his quarterback is one of the favorites, defenses that look to account for Allen oftentimes leave Cook open for a big game.

This misprice at BetMGM ignores how the elite back's home-run potential could rattle off a defining postseason play as Option 2 in one of the league's best offensive systems.

Super Bowl 60 MVP: betting favorites

Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnold, Drake Maye, Josh Allen

Unsurprisingly, quarterbacks on the top four Super Bowl betting favorites often hold the shortest odds to win the award.

Is there value to them? Not really, but in a year that was supposed to be "The Year" for the Bills, Allen at least is a relative bargain here.

Super Bowl 60 MVP sleeper bets: offensive skill players

Matthew Stafford teammates

  • Kyren Williams, RB, Rams (+10000) • FanDuel

  • Davante Adams, WR, Rams (+6000) • BetMGM / Caesars

Targeting two red-zone warriors for a Super Bowl favorite.

Williams trips into spike games that involve multiple touchdowns several times during a season. Even with Blake Corum's workload increasing, Williams remains the top red-zone option.

Adams' own prowess inside the 20 and penchant for being targeted near or in the end zone typically puts him in position for a touchdown. If the matchup is right, Matthew Stafford could lean on him if more defensive attention goes toward Puka Nacua.

The Rams were a top-two or -three favorite for the Super Bowl and made it out of Round 1, so one of Stafford's targets, a future Hall of Famer, and the Rams' stat-stuffing running back should be in our wheelhouse.

49ers stars

  • Brock Purdy, 49ers (+2500) • FanDuel / Caesars / bet365

  • Christian McCaffrey, 49ers (+8000) • BetMGM

Without George Kittle, the top Niners names would need to have huge efforts if they're going to complete an historic run to the title.

Alpha wide receivers

  • Nico Collins, Texans (+7000) • FanDuel

  • Stefon Diggs, Patriots (+12500) • BetMGM

  • Courtland Sutton, Broncos (+12500) • FanDuel

  • DJ Moore, Bears (+35000) • FanDuel

  • Jauan Jennings, 49ers (+40000) • FanDuel

Taking shots on more big-play and target-hog wideouts who can put up big numbers.

Super Bowl 60 MVP sleeper bets: defensive players

Projecting defensive players to impact the game isn't as exciting an exercise lately. The last defensive player to win Super Bowl MVP was the Denver Broncos' Von Miller in 2015.

These are extreme long-shot bets, but here goes nothing.

If you want to place one on a sacks artist or difference-making interior defender:

    • Danielle Hunter, DE, Texans (+10000) • bet365 / FanDuel
    • Byron Murphy, DI, Seahawks (+20000) • FanDuel
    • Nik Bonitto, LB, Broncos (+8000) • Caesars / FanDuel
    • Byron Young, LB, Rams (+25000) • FanDuel

Looking for someone who could position himself for a huge takeaway? Why not bet:

    • regular-season INT leader Kevin Byard, S, Bears (+75000) • Caesars / FanDuel
    • a returning-after-injury Fred Warner, LB, 49ers (+7500) • Caesars
    • Seahawks CB Devon Witherspoon (+22500) • Caesars
    • Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. (+40000) • FanDuel
    • Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez (+50000) • FanDuel

Will a tight end finally win Super Bowl MVP in 2026?

More and more teams are installing more frequent heavy personnel, emphasizing the TE position to counteract the increasing defensive tendencies that look to eliminate the deep ball.

Just in case you were wondering, here are their odds at FanDuel:

    • Hunter Henry, Patriots (+17500)
    • Colston Loveland, Bears (+25000) -- these top two make a ton of sense as prop bets.
    • AJ Barner, Seahawks (+25000)
    • Dalton Kincaid, Bills (+35000)
    • Dalton Schultz, Texans (+50000)
    • Evan Engram, Broncos (+75000)
    • Tyler Higbee/Colby Parkinson, Rams (+200000)
    • Keep an eye out if odds are published for George Kittle's replacement, Jake Tonges! (Not listed, of course, but hey...)
