Lleyton Hewitt return: Father-son duo dominate in all-Australian affair image

Not bad for 44 years young! Lleyton Hewitt's return to the professional tennis scene will last a little longer, after him and 16-year-old son Cruz, defeated the young Aussie duo of Hayden Jones and Pavle Marinkov in the round of 16 of the New South Wales (NSW) Open, 6-1, 6-0.

It marks a dominant return to professional tennis for Hewitt after a five-year absence.

The father-son duo dropped just one game early in the first set, but from there were unstoppable to book their place in the next round.

Hewitt donned his classic backwards cap in his return to the court.

The former world number one had not competed professionally since the 2020 Australian Open, where he played doubles with fellow Australian Jordan Thompson.

Earlier in the day, Cruz bowed out in the singles draw of the NSW Open, losing to Hayato Matsuoka of Japan, 7-5, 3-6, 5-7.
