Australian Open final: Ball boy takes screamer on Rod Laver Arena image

An Australian Open ball boy has put his cricket skills to good use by taking a great catch during the men's doubles final on Rod Laver Arena.

The French pairing of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut emerged victorious on Sunday afternoon over Australian John Peers and Finland's Henri Kontinen 6-4 7-6(1).

The fifth seeded Frenchmen had previously beaten Sam Querrey and Ryan Harrison in the semi-finals and the Bryan brothers in the quarters.

But a humble ball boy stole the show during the second set tiebreak on Rod Laver.

Down a minibreak, Kontinen sent down a fault, which was hit back over the net.

It was a big miss, and the Fin hit the ball away on the half-volley.

The Dunlop was sent to the skies, but the ball boy kept his eyes on it and took a great grab under pressure.

Check it out below:

The catch will go down as one of the best ball boy grabs of the 2019 Australian Open.

But was it as good as this one from a few years ago?

But, it's important to remember that it doesn't always go so well, as this lad discovered...

Since we're here, why not have a look at some other great moments in ball boy tennis history.

Good montage, although they dudded Kramer.
