Cronulla have secured the services of star fullback Will Kennedy for a further season, re-signing him until the end of 2026.
Kennedy's extension comes after a superb 2025 campaign where he helped guide the Sharks to their second straight preliminary finals appearance.
The 28-year-old was one of the NRL's most consistent performers, finishing 10th in Dally M Medal voting after producing eight tries and 13 try assists.
A model of durability, Kennedy played every minute for Craig Fitzgibbon this year, averaging 149 running metres and providing stability in both attack and defence.
"I feel really happy to stay at the club. I've been here since SG Ball, so it really means a lot to me," Kennedy said in a statement released by the club on Thursday.
Kennedy moved from Bathurst as a teenager to chase his NRL dream and has since amassed 134 first-grade games in the black, white and blue.
"It's been a pretty special run that we've had, making it to the finals. Making that next step is a big one; I'm very excited to do that with these boys," he added.
"I know we've got it in us to do it. We'll have a good pre-season together and it'll take care of itself."
Sharks general manager of football Darren Mooney praised Kennedy's influence and long-standing commitment to the club.
"Will has been a crucial member of our squad for several years," Mooney said.
"[He's] someone who is renowned for being extremely dependable and skilful while always striving to improve."
His one-year deal also keeps the door ajar for a potential move to Perth for their inaugural season in 2027.
However, Fitzgibbon's culture-first approach seems to have resonated deeply with Kennedy, who describes the Shire as his "home."
With his future secured, Kennedy's focus now turns to leading Cronulla towards that elusive premiership breakthrough.
