The Dragons are closing in on another key signing as Shane Flanagan’s 2026 rebuild continues to take shape.

After already snapping up Nick Quinn from South Sydney and David Dale from Penrith, you'd be forgiven for thinking they might take a break.

But St George Illawarra are keeping things rolling, and are now on the verge of securing the signature of Warriors speedster Setu Tu.

The 26-year-old flyer has been one of the most sought-after outside backs in the NSW Cup, with the pursuit only getting hotter after he scored doubles in both the NSW Cup final and the State Championship.

Dragons closing in on Warriors winger

According to Zero Tackle, Tu is “close to” finalising a two-year deal with the Dragons, with negotiations now in their final stages.

Tu’s breakout year for the Warriors’ NSW Cup side saw him dominate across both finals campaigns, scoring doubles in the grand final and the State Championship decider as the club claimed the title.

His explosive finishing and versatility - capable of playing both wings, at centre or fullback - have made him an attractive option for the Dragons, who are seeking to add depth and speed to their backline stocks.

Flanagan’s recruitment drive continues

St George Illawarra have been aggressive in the market ahead of 2026, with Flanagan targeting young, high-upside players who can challenge for first-grade roles.

Club sources have described Tu as a “game-breaker” and believe his form in the second-tier competition could translate into a genuine NRL opportunity next season.

If the deal is completed, Tu would become the latest piece in a Dragons roster overhaul designed to inject energy, pace and competition across key positions.
