The Sydney Roosters have continued their retention push, officially announcing the re-signing of rising star Robert Toia on a long-term extension.
The 21-year-old outside back has re-committed to the club until the end of 2029 after a breakout 2025 season that saw him become a State of Origin player in just his first NRL year.
Head of Recruitment Joel Carbone said Toia’s new deal was a major moment for the club.
"What sets Robert apart isn't just his talent, it's his character," Carbone said.

"He's worked through some tough early challenges with real resilience and determination. With the work ethic he brings, there's no capping the ceiling for where he can take his game," Carbone added.
Toia claimed the NRL Rookie of the Year award in 2025 after becoming one of the Roosters’ most reliable contributors in the centres.
He made his State of Origin debut for Queensland and represented Tonga in the Pacific Championships, capping off a meteoric rise in 2025.

The young outside back said re-signing with the Roosters was a deeply personal decision.
"The Roosters have believed in me from the start and stood by me through some setbacks along the way," Toia said.
"The trust and belief from Robbo, my teammates, and everyone at the club, back to Friendy and Aubo during my Academy days, has always meant a lot to me and made the Roosters feel like home," he added.
Toia explained how proud he was to be a Rooster and fired a warning shot to rivals, saying he is motivated to now get even better and continue developing.
The Roosters have been one of the most active teams this offseason as they work to lock in a roster capable of delivering another premiership push.
Signings like Toia, however, not only help them be positioned to win now, but also keep their premiership window open for several years down the track.
