Roosters coup: Superstar re-signs with club image

Roosters captain James Tedesco has committed his future to the club, signing a contract extension that keeps him in Bondi through the end of the 2027 season.

“I’m incredibly proud to represent this Club and to continue leading a group of players who mean so much to me. The Roosters have played a huge role in my career and my life. Working with Robbo has pushed me to become a better player and person, and I’m grateful for the belief he’s always shown in me," Tedesco said.

“I know we have a lot more to achieve together, and I’m excited for what’s still to come with this group. I’m committed to doing everything I can to help us get there,” Tedesco added.

The Roosters fullback capped off his 2025 season with a stellar campaign, winning the Dally M Medal and once again proving he remains one of the NRL’s premier fullbacks.

Coach Trent Robinson praised Tedesco’s influence, calling him “central to our club’s identity” over the nearly decade he has worn the red, white and blue.

With that extension locked in, the Roosters retain an integral piece of their spine — a proven leader, match-winner, and superstar who continues to age like fine wine.

Tedesco’s leadership has been a key area of his development at Bondi, now making him the third most-capped captain in the club’s history with 117 games as skipper, only behind legends Jake Friend and Brad Fittler.

The new deal also positions Tedesco to finish his career at Bondi, with his contract running through to when ‘Teddy’ turns 34.

While he is entering a new phase of his career, his ambition is clear: he still believes there is more success to come.

With the Roosters ushering in a new wave of young talent in 2025 and adding star halfback Daly Cherry-Evans, it would be brave to bet against Tedesco continuing the form that has kept him among the very best players in the game.
