The South Sydney Rabbitohs have continued to bolster their outside backs by raiding the Canterbury Bulldogs’ junior system.
Following the signings of young gun brothers William Afualo (NSW Cup) and Maxwell Afualo (SG Ball Cup), the Rabbitohs have added Jordi Mazzone to their ranks.
Mazzone, an outside back capable of playing both centre and wing, becomes the latest young talent to head to Redfern from Belmore.
The 2026 NRL season was an option year for Mazzone with the Bulldogs, but the club chose not to exercise it and instead follow the Afualo brothers to the Rabbitohs.

A Moorebank Rams junior, Mazzone grew up in Wattle Grove before joining the Bulldogs in 2021, showcasing his attacking potential with eight tries last season.
Over the past four years, he featured in the Bulldogs’ Under-21s Jersey Flegg Cup side and steadily improved.
The Rabbitohs have signed several young guns this off-season as part of their renewed development and pathways plan, and the addition of the three Bulldogs players is a coup for a team looking to bolster their outside backs.
The 2025 season laid bare the depth issues that can plague a side, with the Rabbitohs having the worst injury toll in the NRL, which particularly exposed their lack of depth in the backline.
The additions of Mazzone and the highly touted Afualo brothers further cement the Rabbitohs’ depth and put a strong foundation in place for the future.
