'Out of a Corn Flakes box’: Peter V'landys blasts R360 as awkward Zac Lomax situation arises for the Kangaroos image

Australian Rugby League Commission supremo Peter V'landys has taken another blistering shot at R360, declaring that any player who elects to join the proposed breakaway competition will be throwing away their careers.

"They’ve got no business plan," V'landys stated while fielding questions about Zac Lomax’s potential defection.

The Parramatta winger was named in Kevin Walters’ Kangaroos squad for the upcoming Ashes series against England.

However, his inclusion has raised more than a few eyebrows due to reports of a potential switch to the sport next year.

'Out of a Corn Flakes box’: Peter V'landys blasts R360

"Any competition that comes out of a Corn Flakes box, I’m not concerned about," V'landys said. "Look, because that’s what it is. It’s completely unprofessional."

Lomax will head to England along with fellow wingers Xavier Coates and Mark Nawaqanitawase.

The Sydney Roosters flyer has been included despite his intention to quit the NRL at the end of next season and return to rugby union.

Meanwhile, Lomax’s future at the Eels remains up in the air despite him signing a long-term contract last year following his departure from St George Illawarra.

It is believed the New South Wales star could be lured to play R360.

However, V'landys stated that any player seriously considering agreeing terms with the start-up comp was making a mistake.

"Any player that goes is really risking their career," V'landys said.

"They only have to look at Salford this year in the Super League, which was in a similar situation. The players didn’t get paid."

Walters adopted a more diplomatic approach in his answer as he brushed away any talk of R360 completely, focusing instead on Lomax's desire to play for the Roos.

"I have no concern with picking [Lomax and Nawaqanitawase] as I've got the full support of the Commission," Walters said.

"We're focusing on these three Tests and what happens next year, or in two years' time, is out of our control.

"Having spoken to Zac himself, I wouldn't have thought [the R360 rumours] would be a distraction. He's certainly got a good mindset around the tour and he's been training extremely hard to get himself right for this tour."
