The Perth Bears have landed a major recruitment coup for their inaugural NRL campaign and have suddenly gained momentum in building their roster.
The Bears have made Tino Fa’asuamaleaui one of their top priorities as he weighs up whether to stay with the Gold Coast Titans for 2027, and their latest signing could push the odds in their favour.
According to CODE Sports, the Bears have now signed Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui, a move that significantly strengthens their bid to lure his superstar brother.
Iszac will return to the NRL in 2027 after a one-year stint with Catalans in the Super League, linking up with the Bears ahead of their entry into the competition.

Perth have already unveiled Catalans halfback Toby Sexton and England centre Harry Newman as foundation signings, signalling an aggressive approach to building a competitive squad from day one after many initial attempts to sign key players stalled.

There is no doubt the signing of Iszac will be a lure for Tino to consider heading west, but Perth have also made several other moves that may give Tino renewed confidence.
Penrith premiership forward Liam Henry is also tipped to join the expansion outfit after touring the club’s facilities last week, while Melbourne Storm utility Tyran Wishart is expected to make a decision shortly.
Tino Fa’asuamaleaui still has until late next year to decide his future, with his $12 million Titans deal containing a player option that could see him hit the market for 2027.
Perth’s interest in the Kangaroos enforcer has also been fuelled by his strong relationship with Mal Meninga, who worked closely with him at both the Titans and Australian level and now has multiple quality NRL players signed for the Bears.
Head of pathways Ian Millward has also been travelling extensively across the state to identify emerging talent and broaden the club’s development footprint.
With Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui now locked in and recent signings announced, Perth’s pitch under coach Meninga to Tino suddenly looks far more enticing, and the expansion club’s recruitment drive is gathering some serious pace.
