Just a week after confirming his departure from the New Zealand Warriors, 2025 NSW Cup premiership-winning captain Kalani Going has quickly drawn the attention of another NRL club.
The 28-year-old was a standout performer throughout the season, captaining the Warriors’ reserve-grade outfit with distinction and earning the NSW Cup Player of the Year award for his consistency and leadership.
His efforts culminated in a dominant finals campaign, where the Warriors secured the double in what proved to be Going’s final games for the club.
Fresh off leading the Warriors to both the NSW Cup title and State Championship, Going has reportedly emerged as a target for the Penrith Panthers, as per Zero Tackle.

Having previously made his NRL debut in 2023 against the Dolphins, Going’s form and versatility across the forward pack have made him a valuable prospect for a club like Penrith — particularly as they look to rebuild some of their forward depth.

Going has also played Hooker, which at times has been a position that has had depth tested at the foot of the mountains.
The Panthers are already set to welcome New Zealand duo Tobias Crosby and Tom Ale for next season, and Going could further bolster that rotation with his experience and work rate.
Penrith, who bowed out in this year’s Preliminary Final, are expected to make several roster adjustments over the off-season as they prepare for another premiership tilt.
With seven spots remaining on their Top 30 roster for 2026, Going’s addition would offer both depth and leadership to a squad still brimming with young talent but eager to maintain its high standards after years of dominance.
If the move eventuates, it would mark a fitting reward for one of the NSW Cup’s hardest-working players — and another clever piece of recruitment from Penrith’s ever-shrewd front office.
