Ex-Sea Eagles star winger secures 2026 deal with new club image

Former Manly Sea Eagles winger Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega is preparing for a new chapter in his NRL career, signing a one-year contract with the North Sydney Bears ahead of the 2026 season.

The 25-year-old was one of nine players released by the Sea Eagles at the end of the 2025 season, alongside teammates Dean Matterson and Tommy Talau.

While the winger didn’t play a first-grade game for the club this year, Vaega has made 12 NRL appearances since his debut for Manly against the Canberra Raiders in Round 24 of 2022.

Wearing the white and maroon jersey, Vaega notched three tries, made eight line breaks, and was on the receiving end of 200 passes for the club.

Vaega’s departure from the starting squad comes as the Sea Eagles continue to see young outside backs like Lehi Hopoate and Tolutau Joula rise through the ranks and make their mark at the club.

Known for his aggression and versatility, the outside back can play on either the wing or in the centres and will be hoping to push for a starting spot at North Sydney.

The timing of Vaega’s move is crucial for the Bears, who will no longer have the Melbourne Storm as a feeder club from 2026, instead running their own NSW Cup team.

“Ray has worked very hard on improving his game and has earnt this new one-year deal,” Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold stated.

“He is a very good team first man who provides plenty of added depth to our outside backs.”
