Dylan Brown’s new life in Newcastle is off to a flying start, with the star playmaker already immersing himself in life both on and off the field in the Hunter region.

But as he prepares for this next chapter, one question still hangs in the air — where will he line up in the Knights’ red and blue?

Although still under contract with the Parramatta Eels until October 31, the 25-year-old has wasted no time settling in, after reportedly moving to Newcastle almost a month ago.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Brown has already sat down with new Knights head coach Justin Holbrook, started training alongside Kalyn Ponga and Bradman Best, and settled into a home with his pregnant partner as the couple await the birth of their first child.

The dynamic halves player’s move up north follows a record-breaking 10-year deal reportedly worth more than $13 million, signed in March after seven seasons with the Eels, where he first arrived as a 15-year-old prodigy from New Zealand.

Although his marquee signing sparked speculation he would become Newcastle’s chief playmaker, Brown insists his role in Holbrook’s side is still undecided.

“I met up with the new coach, Justin, and we had a good chat,” Brown told the Daily Telegraph.

“I’d had nothing to do with him before our first meeting. But I heard of him and lots of good things about him but I’d never seen him before.

“He just seems like a really good human, a good bloke.”

When asked about the position he wants to play for the Newcastle Knights, Brown revealed that while he has shared his preference with Holbrook, he is “happy to do what’s best for the team".
