Cody Ramsey spotted at Roosters facilities as NRL future hangs by a thread image

St George Illawarra Dragons outside back Cody Ramsey is exploring new opportunities after a tough comeback to rugby league following a two-year battle with ulcerative colitis, with the Sydney Roosters now emerging as a likely destination.

Despite being named the Dragons’ NSW Cup Player of the Year and captaining their reserve-grade side during the finals campaign, the 25-year-old fullback and winger has not been offered a Top 30 contract for next season.

Taking his future into his own hands, Ramsey was recently spotted touring the Sydney Roosters’ facilities in Moore Park, according to the Sydney Morning Herald—hinting he could be one step closer to joining the Tricolours.

While the Roosters are reportedly expressing interest in the young outside back, the Parramatta Eels are also in the mix as Ramsey weights his next move, according to Wide World of Sports.

If NRL opportunities do not materialise, Ramsey has the option of joining a club in the Super League.

According to Love Rugby League, the fullback has been granted permission by the UK Home Office to make the move overseas, following a rare intervention by the Rugby Football League and the NRL that cleared previous visa concerns.

Discussions about Ramsey’s contract come after his hard-fought return to the NRL this year, following a two-year absence due to a serious, long-term colon and rectum condition, with the young fullback determined to re-establish himself in the NRL.

Although Ramsey remains without a contract for 2026, interest from the Roosters and Parramatta, as well as a potential Super League move, suggests the resilient fullback – bouncing back from major setbacks – is set to secure a new club in the coming months.
