White, a former Australia and New South Wales representative, will reunite with Holbrook after their time together at the Gold Coast Titans. Known for his defensive sharpness, White’s coaching résumé includes roles with Canberra’s 2019 grand final side, as well as the Australian Kangaroos and New South Wales State of Origin set-ups.

Hales and Buderus bring balance and identity

Joining him is Steven Hales, who arrives from Manly with a strong reputation for developing attacking systems and nurturing young players. His previous stints at Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles and Parramatta Eels Under-20s underline his track record of building creative, confident teams.

Completing the trio is Newcastle great Danny Buderus, who adds his legendary insight and leadership to the coaching group. The most capped player in Knights history, Buderus, expands on his ambassadorial role to step back into hands-on coaching.

Incoming Director of Football Chris James said the appointments “signal an exciting new era” for the club under Holbrook.

“Brett, Steven and Danny bring a wonderful blend of proven NRL experience, innovative thinking and genuine commitment to our club values,” James said. “Together they provide the foundations for sustained success.”

Pre-season training for the 2026 campaign begins on Monday, 3 November.
