Reports: Moses and Burton to miss out despite NSW dominating Kangaroos squad image

Experienced internationals Mitchell Moses and Matt Burton are set to miss selection for the upcoming Ashes test series in England.

But it isn’t all bad news for Blues fans, with NSW players still filling 14 of the 23 touring spots.

According to reports in the Sydney Morning Herald head coach Kevin Walters and the Australian selectors met last week to pencil in their preferred squad, and will finalise their line-up on Monday morning following the NRL grand final.

It’s understood the touring squad will include seven Australian debutants: Reece Walsh, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Blayke Brailey, Jacob Preston, Bradman Best, Keaon Koloamatangi and Ethan Strange.

Barring any late injuries, the Kangaroo halves for the first test at Wembley Stadium are set to be Nathan Cleary and Cameron Munster, with 2025 Wally Lewis medalist Tom Dearden and breakout Canberra Raiders star Strange providing squad cover in utility roles.

Reece Walsh is tipped to get the fullback nod ahead of Dylan Edwards, although both players will be selected following the withdrawal of James Tedesco earlier this week.

With Bulldogs star Matt Burton seemingly out of favour, the first-choice centre pairing will almost certainly be Kotoni Staggs and Bradman Best, with Ethan Strange once again offering another option if required.

There are no players from the Dolphins, Dragons, Sea Eagles, Tigers, Warriors.
