Mark Nawaqanitawase's star turn at the Sydney Roosters appears like it will be a short-lived one, with the flyer reportedly set for a return to rugby union.
The former Australian rugby international left the code in order to pursue a career in the NRL and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the game's most entertaining players.
However, the lure of a home Rugby World Cup in 2027 may ultimately have been too difficult to turn down for Nawaqanitawase.

Mark Nawaqanitawase reportedly set to shun NRL stay in Roosters bombshell
Nawaqanitawase has informed the Chooks that he will not sign a new deal at the Bondi club and will instead return to his original code upon the completion of the 2026 NRL season.
"He has indicated to the Roosters that he will finish up at the club after next season," Michael Chammas first reported in The Sydney Morning Herald.
It is expected that the former Wallabies favourite will venture overseas upon the conclusion of the NRL season next year to take up an offer with a rugby union franchise.
However, despite not inking a deal with a Super Rugby club on home soil, he will still be able to represent Australia at the Rugby World Cup after the code's powerbrokers decided to allow players from abroad to be eligible for selection once again.
Nawaqanitawase has enjoyed a dream first full season in the NRL, which saw him produce numerous highlight reel moments on his way to topping the league's try-scoring charts.
His displays on the wing have caught the eye of new Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters, who is set to include the Olympian in his squad for the upcoming Ashes series in England.
