Manly were hoping to break into the top four this year as they planned an assault on the premiership.
The Sea Eagles have made gradual progress under Anthony Seibold since the head coach grabbed the reins from Des Hasler two years ago.
However, the club was rocked early on this season after Daly Cherry-Evans announced that he would be leaving at the end of the year. Since that bombshell, the side has struggled to live up to their potential, with their finals hopes now hanging by a thread.
