Keaon Koloamatangi admits he’s likely to test the open market, revealing he’s yet to receive a compelling offer to stay at South Sydney beyond next season.
The Kangaroos forward, currently touring England for the Ashes, is off contract at the end of 2026 and will officially be free to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1.
While the 27-year-old has made it clear he wants to remain at Redfern, Koloamatangi told 9News that his management has yet to finalise discussions with the Rabbitohs.
“At this stage, I think I am [going to the market],” he said. “Hopefully Souths come to the table.”

‘Hopefully my manager can sort something out soon’
Koloamatangi is represented by Tyran Smith, who also manages Broncos enforcer Payne Haas - one of the league’s highest-paid players on a deal worth around $1.1 million per season.
The Rabbitohs star said he’s aware of his value and believes his next contract could push toward the seven-figure range.
“I am a front rower now,” Koloamatangi said.
“I’ve seen the money they have been getting. Hopefully my manager can sort something out soon.”
Focus remains on Kangaroos tour
For now, Koloamatangi’s attention is on Australia’s Ashes campaign, having made his Test debut at Wembley Stadium last weekend.
“My focus is here,” he said.
“I was just very grateful to debut for Australia and that I was able to do it in such a great stadium. For me to be able to do it as a kid from Australia, I’m just very grateful and honoured.”
Future allegiance still uncertain
As for whether he will continue with the Kangaroos through to the 2026 Rugby League World Cup or return to represent Tonga, Koloamatangi remained non-committal.
“I haven’t looked that far forward,” he said.
