Jared Waerea-Hargreaves urged fellow NRL players to consider a stint in the Super League after calling his time at Hull KR “one of the best decisions” of his career.

The New Zealand prop, who joined the Robins on a one-year deal for 2025, finished his debut season in England by helping Willie Peters’ side complete a historic treble, winning the Challenge Cup, Super League Leaders’ Shield, and Grand Final.

Hull KR’s 24-6 victory over Wigan Warriors marked the club’s first-ever Super League title and ended a 21-year wait for a new name on the trophy.

“At the right time of your career, you’ve got to do it”

After the win, Waerea-Hargreaves had nothing but praise for the competition, encouraging other overseas stars to follow his lead.

“I’ve loved it, so… do it!” he told reporters. “At the right time of your career, you’ve got to do it… go and experience it. It’s been so good.”

The 36-year-old forward, who turns 37 in January, joined Hull KR with an already glittering résumé, three NRL Premierships with the Sydney Roosters and over 30 Test caps for New Zealand. Yet his time in England has added another remarkable chapter to an illustrious career.

Waerea-Hargreaves will return to Australia in December, where he is expected to take up a mentoring role with the Roosters.
