‘We’ll see what happens’: Jahream Bula breaks silence on Tigers exit rumours image

Wests Tigers fullback Jahream Bula has addressed growing speculation about his future, admitting he’s unsure what lies ahead after reports suggested the club may be ready to move on from him.

The 23-year-old has been one of the few bright sparks for the Tigers since bursting onto the scene in 2023, scoring 23 tries in 57 appearances.

But with whispers of unrest following his wife’s release from the club’s NRLW side, a decision said to have left him “extremely upset”, according to Wide World of Sports, talk of an early exit has gained momentum.

Bula speaks after Fiji masterclass

Fresh off a stunning four-try performance for Fiji, including a seven-minute hat-trick, Bula spoke to The National about his next move. While the comments were hardly definitive, they hinted at a player weighing up his options carefully.

“We’ll have to see. I’ve still got a few years at Tigers,” Bula said. “I like it in Sydney – Sydney’s my home – so hopefully I can stay there, but we’ll see what happens.”

The Tigers' fullback is currently contracted until the end of next season, with a mutual option for 2027 that could see him earn between $750,000 and $800,000 depending on who activates it.

However, The Herald’s Michael Chammas reported on Triple M’s The Journos that “there’s not an appetite from the Wests Tigers to activate his contract,” suggesting Bula’s time at Concord could be nearing an unexpected end — and possibly paving the way for a move abroad, with the PNG Chiefs reportedly interested.
