Australian captain Isaah Yeo has entered concussion protocols and is out of the second Ashes test, with his participation in game three also uncertain.

The Panthers star suffered a category one head knock in the opening minutes of the first test following a heavy collision when making a tackle on England winger Dom Young.

“It was a bad knock that he got,” Australian coach Kevin Walters acknowledged of the incident after the 26-6 victory at Wembley.

“But we’ve got good medical staff who’ll look after him this week, he’s a tough hombre.”

Should the Kangaroos win in Liverpool—as they’re heavily favoured to do— it means 30-year-old Yeo will miss the chance to lead the Kangaroos to an historic first Ashes series win in 22 years.

That honour will likely instead fall to Harry Grant who is set to deputise as captain in Yeo’s absence, having done so at Wembley.

Yeo has a long history of head knocks during his playing career.

According to NRL Physio Brien Seeney, the Panthers captain has had at least eight documented concussions, however most of those occurred between 2016-2022.
