The Dolphins have had plenty of fun with their NRL socials in 2025—and their hard-working marketing team is at it again ahead of Round 27.

Currently sitting ninth, the Redcliffe-based unit has put a light-hearted call out to their former boss, Wayne Bennett, invoking the super coach to use the Force to help the Rabbitohs secure an upset win over the Sydney Roosters on Friday night and keep their slim final hopes alive.

“Help us, ‘Obi-Wayne Kenobi’ you’re our only hope,” is the general gist of the Dolphins’ desperate appeal, paraphrasing the iconic words of Princess Leia.

However given the late-season form of the Tricolours, Obi-Wayne and the Rabbitohs will likely need more than just a few Jedi moves to avoid intergalactic oblivion for themselves and the Dolphins in 2025.

“I find your lack of faith disturbing,” Darth Vader may well say in response.

But bookmakers are in full agreement ahead of the Round 27 fixtures, listing the Dolphins as $7 outsiders to sneak into the top eight, while the Roosters are virtually unbackable at just $1.08.

Of course, should the Rabbitohs and Wayne Bennett indeed come to the aid of his former club and deliver a surprise victory at Allianz Stadium, the Dolphins will then need to defeat freshly-minted minor premiers the Canberra Raiders on Sunday afternoon at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe.

It would be a difficult task, but far from an impossible one, given Ricky Stuart will be resting a significant number of his first-choice squad ahead of the NRL finals.

But first, its over to you Obi-Wayne...
