‘Destructive’: Bulldogs star signs two-year extension image

Off-contract Bulldogs forward Viliame Kikau could have tested the NRL market—but he isn’t going anywhere.

The 30-year-old Fijian international has signed a two-year extension which will keep him with the Canterbury Bulldogs until at least the end of the 2028 NRL season.

Kikau arrived at Belmore in 2023 after winning back-to-back premierships with Penrith and quickly became a senior leader under head coach Cameron Ciraldo, winning the Dr. George Peponis Medal in 2024 as the club’s player of the year.

“I’m very happy to be staying at the Bulldogs,” Kikau said as news of his extension was confirmed.

“This club has embraced my family and I since day one so it was an easy decision to re-sign,” he added.

“I love being part of what we're building here, we’ve made great progress over the past couple of years, but we want to achieve more - I want to help this club win its next premiership.”

Bulldogs boss Phil Gould was understandably delighted with the news.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to secure Viliame’s services for another two years,” Gould said.

“Since arriving at the club, Viliame has been everything we hoped for and more, he’s a genuine leader, a wonderful person and one of the most destructive players in the competition.

“We’re proud to call Viliame a Bulldog and are excited that he’s with us for the long-haul.”
