The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have confirmed the signings of three new players for the 2026 NRL season as they continue to reshape their roster under general manager of football Phil Gould.

The Bulldogs’ recruitment in recent years has been targeted and aggressive as they push for a return to premiership glory for the first time since 2004, and Gould has managed to nab a trio of players who could all contribute to that goal.

In a statement released on Monday, the Bulldogs announced the arrivals of Sean O’Sullivan from the Dolphins, Fletcher Baker from the Brisbane Broncos, and Gordon Chan Kum Tong from the Manly Sea Eagles — three additions designed to strengthen the club’s depth and bolster key positions across the park.

O’Sullivan, who was part of Penrith’s 2022 premiership-winning squad before stints with the Dolphins, Warriors, and Roosters, joins Canterbury’s Top 30 roster on a one-year deal holding a mutual option for the 2027 season, giving both parties flexibility beyond next year.

The 26-year-old halfback is known for his smart game management, kicking ability, and composure under pressure — traits that Bulldogs general manager of football Phil Gould believes will complement the club’s developing playmakers.

“Sean has proven to be a reliable half in the NRL with a great footy IQ, which we believe will be beneficial for the young playmakers in our squad,” Gould said.

Joining him are forwards Fletcher Baker and Gordon Chan Kum Tong, who will both begin on development contracts next season but have plenty of NRL experience.

Baker, a 24-year-old forward who came through the Sydney Roosters system before joining Brisbane, adds size and experience to Canterbury’s middle rotation that they desperately needed.

Chan Kum Tong, 22, has impressed in limited opportunities with Manly, known for his high energy, work rate, and strong defensive efforts at hooker. The dynamic rake is expected to be elevated into the Bulldogs’ Top 30 roster in 2027 as part of the club’s long-term planning.

“Gordon has only scratched the surface of his potential and we're excited to see where he can take his game, while Fletcher brings valuable experience and depth after spending time in other successful systems,” Gould said.

The trio’s signings leave the Bulldogs with three vacant Top 30 spots for 2026, giving the club additional flexibility to target further reinforcements before the season begins.

The new arrivals also come amid a busy offseason for the Bulldogs, who continue to rebuild their squad around a mix of youth and experience under head coach Cameron Ciraldo.

The club’s recruitment strategy has focused heavily on balance — developing future stars while maintaining reliable, NRL-ready depth across all positions — and they have not been shy going to market for stars, with signings of superstars Viliame Kikau, Stephen Crichton, and Matt Burton among the club’s high-profile additions under Gould’s watch.

With the addition of O’Sullivan, Chan Kum Tong, and Baker, Canterbury have addressed key areas of need — adding depth to the halves to replace the departed Toby Sexton, stability through the middle, and spark out of dummy half.

It has been over 20 years since the Bulldogs’ latest premiership, but with quality recruitment and a huge season of improvement under their belt, the club is looking like a genuine contender for 2026.
