ANALYSIS: How the Broncos can unlock Reece Walsh's best image

Since Broncos playmaker Adam Reynolds went down injured in round 23, Brisbane have been on a tear, going 4-0 and piling on a minimum of 30 points per match.

In the same span, superstar fullback Reece Walsh has been the form player of the NRL.

In the latest episode of Real or Ridiculous, 2015 Dally M Five-eighth of the Year Blake Austin rejects the notion that Reynolds’ absence has sparked something in Walsh, pointing at a tactic far deeper.

“Poor Reece is a victim of his own physical capabilities,”Austin said.

“His first touches, when it comes to shape, need to be in yardage. Ballplayers, when we get into good ball, there’s this idea that ‘we’re at the right end of the field: let’s have a crack.’

“What I'm seeing with Reece Walsh is if it starts crappy, it ends crappy. He needs to build rhythm and the way that you do that is you get in shape in yardage.

Teams don’t jam in yardage, they’re passive.”
