Josh Hannay continues to take a scalpel to his playing roster at the Gold Coast, with Alofiana Khan-Pereira the latest to be shown the door.

The rookie coach was handed the reins at the Titans following Des Hasler's dismissal and he has already proved he isn't afraid to make big decisions as Reagan Campbell-Gillard was allowed to leave last week.

The former New South Wales and Australia representative forward still had multiple years to run on his contract, but he was released from these terms to take up a deal with the London Broncos

Meanwhile, AKP had a year remaining on his contract, yet he has also been granted a release to take up a three-year offer from the New Zealand Warriors.

Gold Coast's cleanout continues as AKP is released to join NRL rival

Khan-Pereira's exit has been confirmed on the same day that Carter Gordon returned to rugby union after failing to make a successful transition to rugby league.

The duo's departures will cause a considerable hit to the club's backline stocks as Hannay attempts to reshape his backline.

AKP was an integral member of the side on the wing following his NRL debut back in 2023.

However, the proflific try-scoring flyer was dumped from the side by Hasler in Round 17 this year, despite scoring a double in his previous match.

The winger managed to make just one more appearance for the rest of the campaign after his demotion, which came in a Round 23 loss to South Sydney where AKP left the field after suffering a hamstring injury.

This was the last time he was sighted as he finished with just 10 appearances to his name during what turned out to be his final season on the Gold Coast.

The Warriors reacted quickly to pounce upon the opportunity to sign the 23-year-old, who has scored 53 tries in just 54 games.

"Lofi is an exciting addition to our squad for 2026," the club's general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden said.

"He’s one of the quickest players in the game and has proven try-scoring ability in the short time he has played in the NRL."

Khan-Pereira noted that it was coach Andrew Webster's influence that ultimately helped to sway him into moving across the ditch.

"I was really hyped to hear that I was wanted at such a successful club," AKP revealed.

"I talked to Webby about the future and the direction of where the Warriors are headed and I just couldn’t sit still.

"We also had a 40-minute chat to get to know each other, nothing related to rugby league and we just clicked and had a great connection. From then I knew that I really wanted to play for him and the club.

"Webby was one of the big reasons why I wanted to move over and also the boys there. I enjoy the Wahs’ type of footy; I know it suits my style of playing."
