Airlines are under scrutiny for jacking up prices ahead of next week's NRL grand final, leaving both Brisbane and Melbourne fans scrambling to afford tickets to Sydney.
Broncos legend Corey Parker blasted Qantas and Virgin after being quoted nearly $10,000 for six fares from Queensland to Sydney and return.
"Qantas, Virgin, seriously," Parker said on SEN.
"I looked, and the average price was $800 one way. It was $9,822 or something ridiculous [all up].
"They quadrupled the price. That’s ridiculous."

Prices have climbed more than three times the standard cost for the 90-minute trip, with some carriers asking close to $1000 for a one-way seat.
The gouging mirrors problems seen in the AFL before their grand final this past weekend, when Geelong and Brisbane fans were reportedly stung with fares more than 300 per cent higher than standard.
The AFL Fans Association urged airlines to cap the price hikes and add more flights; an action that Parker wants to see replicated for league fans.
"If there was any other small business that did that and put the price up astronomically like that, the customer would walk," he said.
"Why is this seen to be ok?"
Storm fans are used to this treatment, having had to fly to Sydney for five of the last ten grand finals.
For Broncos fans, they proved how vital they are to the team's performance in Sunday's preliminary final win over the Panthers.
"I’ve been fortunate to experience some good crowds, but the crowd here is awesome," said Brisbane's coach Michael Maguire in his post-match press conference.
"The last two games we’ve played, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like a rock concert.
"The way they get up for the players and they’re a pretty smart crew too; they cheer at the right times and they get them going.
"Get them all down to the grand final now."
Unless airlines step in with extra services or capped fares, thousands of Broncos and Storm fans may be priced out of witnessing their teams live in the most important game of the year.
