Purdy has had to deal with injuries throughout his young career, as he missed three combined games in 2023 and 2024. Now, Purdy begins the 2025 season with multiple injuries that could impact his availability.

Is Brock Purdy playing this week vs. Saints?
Purdy suffered multiple injuries in Week 1 that put his status in doubt for Sunday's game against the Saints. The 49ers quarterback has both a toe injury and a left shoulder injury that he played through on Sunday to finish the game.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team will evaluate Purdy in practice throughout the week before making a decision on whether he will start.

Who is Brock Purdy's backup?
If Purdy can't go, former New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones will get the start.
Jones, who started for New England from 2021-23, spent last year as Trevor Lawrence's backup in Jacksonville but still got several starts.
