The NFL is becoming an increasingly international league, and this is being reflected not only on the teams rosters, but across their season schedules.
This season, the league will see more international games than ever before, with a number of different teams set to compete across the globe throughout the year.
With the excitement growing, Australia is now in line to receive an international game, as a number of athletes from down under head into the league.
When is the NFL coming to Australia?
The NFL will head to Australia in 2026, bringing a regular season game to Aussie shores for the first time.
The game will be one of the opening games of the 2026-27 season, meaning fans down under will need to wait one more season before they can catch the action live.
"Expanding to Melbourne, Australia, a beautiful city with a rich sports history, underlines our ambitions to become a global sport and accelerate international growth," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
"Together with the Victorian State Government, Visit Victoria and the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and with the Los Angeles Rams in 2026, we look forward to making history in what is an important market for the NFL and a significant next step in expanding our international footprint."
The Los Angeles Rams are guaranteed to be one of the squads in action, as a designated team for the Australian region, with their opponent still to be decided for the game to be played at the MCG in Melbourne.
