JUMP TO:

Tom Brady has been in the public spotlight for quite some time.

The sixth-round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft became a household name within a few years, seemingly coming out of nowhere on his way to stardom and annual Super Bowl contention. Flash forward a few decades, and Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion who is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback ever, and more recently, a star broadcaster with Fox.

With Brady at the center of the football universe for so many years, his family has naturally earned some attention as well. From his past marriage, to his parents and siblings, those closest to Brady have had their share of time in the news.

Here's a full breakdown of Brady's family.

Tom Brady son: John 'Jack' Edward Thomas Moynahan

Brady has one son with his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, and another son with his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen.

John "Jack" Edward Thomas Moynahan is Brady's oldest son, and oldest child. His mother is Bridget Moynahan, who Tom Brady dated from 2004 to 2006.

Brady and Moynahan welcomed Jack in August 2007. Jack primarily grew up in New York City with Moynahan and her husband, Andrew Frankel.

Brady's ex-wife, Bündchen, told People in 2018 she had already begun dating Brady when Moynahan realized she was pregnant with Jack, which she said "wasn't the ideal situation" at the time, but she has also emphasized how closely knit the two families are.

"I'm so grateful for [Moynahan]," Bündchen said, per People.. "I know this was hard, but I couldn't imagine my life without [Jack]. I call him my bonus child."

When Brady was playing for the Buccaneers in 2021, a 13-year-old Jack became a ball boy for the team, with Brady sharing on social media that his son took the role "very seriously."

Jack has also played quarterback for his high school football team, something his father spoke about in 2022.

"I love watching him play quarterback because I think there's very few things in life that I could probably help him with," Brady said on his podcast, per People. "You know, I don't have a lot of specialties in life other than probably throwing the football. ... He's way smarter. He's got a great work ethic."

On Jack's 17th birthday in 2024, Brady took to Instagram to call him the "kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful 17-year-old" he knows.

Tom Brady son: Benjamin Rein Brady

Following their marriage in February 2009, Brady and Bündchen welcomed their first child, Benjamin Rein Brady, in December 2009.

Benjamin was born at their home in Boston, an experience that his parents recollected for the ESPN series "Man in the Arena: Tom Brady."

"It was a home birth and it was funny because [Tom] didn't want me to have a home birth," Bündchen said, per People. "He was like, 'Absolutely not,' and I was like, 'Excuse me, you don't get to choose that, it's my body.' ... He was like, 'Who has a kid at home in 2000…?' I do."

However, it's an experience that Brady has said he looks back at positively.

"Me being there with G at his birth in our home, it lives in my mind. I think we brought this boy into the world in the most precious way," Brady said.

While Brady and Jack were always interested in sports, that hasn't always been the case as much for Benjamin. Brady told Men's Health in 2019 that his younger son is "interested in different things," which he had to grow to understand.

"“The reality is that Benny just likes different things,” Brady said, per People. “And it’s great because now I just have to go do what he wants to do. When we do that, we have the best time. He’s like, ‘OMG, Dad, you’re so funny.’ He loves joking, and I joke back.”

However, as of 2023, Brady shared photos of Benjamin with pads and a helmet, taking on football as a tight end.  He was also wearing his father's former No. 12.

Tom Brady daughter: Vivian Lake Brady

Brady's daughter is Vivian Lake Brady. She is his only daughter, and her mother is Bündchen. Vivian was born in December 2012. At the time, Brady joked to ESPN that he's "in trouble" after having a daughter.

"I grew up in a house with three sisters," Brady said. "I think it's great for my boys to have a girl in the house, just to understand at least a little bit about what makes a woman tick -- not that I can certainly figure that out, because I can't. She's a beautiful little girl."

In 2023, Bündchen bought a horse farm partially due to Vivian's love for riding horses.

"I was taking her riding at this place, and every time I was taking her there, it became paparazzi central. I was like, 'I can't live like this. I want to be enjoying with my daughter,'" Bündchen told People. "This should be a fun thing that we get to do together. So I was like, this way, I can have her practice what she loves."

Like his other two children, Brady often shares photos of Vivian on Instagram, calling her his "forever baby girl" for her birthday in 2024.

Previous relationships

Bridget Moynahan

Brady and actress Bridget Moynahan were first linked in 2004, around the time he was cementing his status as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. By that time, Moynahan had also appeared in "Sex and the City" and starred in films including "Coyote Ugly," "Serendipity" and "The Recruit."

In February 2004, after Brady and the Patriots won the Super Bowl, Sports Illustrated reported that Moynahan was the first of the quarterback's supporters to arrive at the after-party. Throughout their relationship, Brady and Moynahan were seen together at various star-studded events, including the ESPYs, an Oscars party and the Met Gala.

In December 2006, the two announced that they had broken up. Per People, a representative for Moynahan said that the actress and quarterback "amicably ended" their relationship.

However, a few months later, Moynahan announced that she was pregnant with Brady's first son, Jack. By that time, Brady was already dating his future wife, Gisele Bündchen. According to People, in a statement in February 2007, Brady's agent, Don Yee, said that "Tom and his family are excited about the pregnancy" and "want to thank everyone who has shown support, and particularly for their consideration of Tom's privacy."

In the years since, Brady, Bündchen and Moynahan have openly discussed their relationship in ensuring the quarterback has a strong relationship with his oldest son.

“We both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child, but also loved our child as if he was their own,” Moynahan told People in 2019. “I don’t think you can ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love and grandparents that go on forever, and it’s all good.”

Gisele Bündchen

Brady's ex-wife is Gisele Bündchen. She is a longtime supermodel and actress, also one of the highest-paid models in the world. Bündchen was a Victoria's Secret Angel from 1999 until 2006, and she has appeared on more than 1,200 magazine covers.

Brady and Bündchen first met on a blind date set up by friends in December 2006. At the time, Brady's relationship with Moynahan had recently come to an end.

"I think the one phone call that changed my life was my friend Ed, who called me one day and he said, 'I have this girl and I think you should call her,' " Brady told the Wall Street Journal in 2021. "I ended up calling her and it ended up being the love of my life."

The two began dating soon after, with Bündchen being spotted outside the Patriots' locker room at various points. By 2008, they were appearing together on the red carpet at the Met Gala, and in January 2009, Brady and Bündchen got engaged.

In Feburary 2009, the two were married in California, and by June 2009, it was reported that they were expecting their first child. Their two children, Benjamin and Vivian, were born in 2009 and 2012.

Bündchen would often appear at Patriots games supporting Brady, and in 2012 following his loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI, she was caught on camera yelling to fans, "My husband cannot f------ throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."

Later on, during an ESPN series, Bündchen said the game was a "nail-biter" and "the most stressful game ever," and she thought what she said was fairly "mild."

"I thought I was like mild, what I said. I mean it's true, how can he do everything? He can't catch and throw the ball at the same time, that's just a fact," Bündchen said, per People.

In 2020, Brady opened up about the struggles that he and Bündchen had gone through in their marriage while on "The Howard Stern Show."

"A couple of years ago, she didn't feel like I was doing my part for the family," Brady said, per People. "She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then all of a sudden when the season ended, I'd be like, 'Great, let me get into all of my other business activities. Let me get into my football training,' and she's sitting there going, 'Well when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?'

When he first retired in 2022, Brady cited one reason for his decision being that he wanted to support his wife and kids more.

"My wife is my biggest supporter. It pains her to see me get hit out there," Brady said on his podcast. "She deserves what she needs from me as a husband and my kids deserve what they need from me as a dad."

He made his decision to return to football around two months later, writing that his "time will come" to retire while thanking his "supportive family."

In October 2022, Brady and Bündchen filed for divorce, also agreeing to joint custody of their children. People reported in 2022 that Brady's dedication to playing football, including his retirement then un-retirement, played a role in the couple's eventual split.

Around a month prior, Bündchen had spoken to "Elle" about her concerns with Brady's return to football.

"Obviously, I have my concerns — this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present," she said. "I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too."

"I've done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. ... I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams."

Following the news of his divorce, Brady wrote about the decision on Instagram.

"In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage," Brady wrote. "We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together."

Gisele did the same, sharing a post to Instagram.

"The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always," she wrote.

In the time since their divorce, Brady and Bündchen have continued supporting one another while also co-parenting their children.

"We're not playing against each other," Bunchen told Vanity Fair in 2023. "We are a team and that's beautiful. I look back and I have no regrets. I loved every bit of it."

Tom Brady dad: Tom Brady Sr.

Brady's dad is Tom Brady Sr. He is the founder, chairman and principal of an insurance firm called Thomas Brady & Associates, which he began in their hometown of San Mateo, California. Prior to starting his own firm, Brady Sr. graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.S. in sociology and worked for New England Life.

In 2017, Tom Brady called his father his hero in a Super Bowl interview.

"I think my dad is my hero, because he's someone I look up to every day," he said. "He was always someone who supported me in everything I did."

Brady also called his dad his "biggest supporter" in a 2021 episode of his "Let's Go!" podcast.

"He's the most loving, caring, honest man in the world and without him there's no way I'd be in the position that I'm in," Brady said, per People. "He's there to support me, win or lose. He's been on the field coming off year in, year out. And my biggest supporter."

In 2016, The Eagle Tribune reported that Tom Sr. and Galynn still live in the San Mateo house where Brady and his sisters were raised. Brady's parents have been married for over 55 years, as they got married in April 1969.

Tom Brady mom: Galynn Brady

Brady's mother is Galynn Brady. Alongside Tom Sr., she's supported Tom's football journey from his California roots, along with being grandparents to a total of 10 grandkids. According to Sports Illustrated, Galynn moved to California for a job as a flight attendant, as she's originally from Browerville, Minnesota.

On her birthday in 2024, Tom wrote in an Instagram post that his mom is "most thoughtful, caring, loving person I’ve ever known."

In June 2016, Galynn was diagnosed breast cancer. She shared in a later interview that she underwent five months of chemotherapy.

“I remember sitting in the doctor’s office and them telling me, ‘You have breast cancer and it’s only stage two,’" Galynn told NFL correspondent Andrea Kremer. "The kind of cancer I had was a very fast growing, aggressive kind of cancer. It’s going to require a lot of chemotherapy and radiation. And so the journey began.”

But by the time the 2017 Super Bowl came around, she was healthy enough to go watch her son play again.

"I just wanted to be there for Tommy, and I wanted to be there with our family," Galynn said in an interview. "Everybody was going to the Super Bowl and I didn't want to miss that."

In June 2017, Tom Sr. then told the Boston Globe that Galynn had finished her cancer treatments and was healthy.

Tom Brady sisters

Brady has three sisters, all three of whom are older than him.

Maureen Brady

Tom Brady's oldest sister is Maureen Brady. She's one of many athletes or former athletes in the family.

Born in 1970, Maureen went on to play softball at Fresno State University after graduating high school. She was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame, as she earned All-American honors while at Fresno State. The Athletic previously reported that Maureen had 29 no-hitters and 14 perfect games while in high school, and while in college, she went to a pair of College World Series in 1992 and 1994 and tallied 80 wins.

Long before Tom became a great quarterback, Maureen told the New York Daily News in 2019 that it was his three sisters who were earning the athletic shine.

"Us girls, we were all pretty good in sports, always in the newspaper. Tommy always used to be known as 'Maureen Brady's little brother' or 'The Little Brady,’” she said.

Maureen has two daughters with Brian Timmons, Maya and Hannah. Maya is a former UCLA softball star who went on to play professional softball.

Julie Brady

Tom Brady's second-oldest sister is Julie Brady. She also played college sports, trying out for the soccer team at St. Mary's College as a walk-on before earning a scholarship later on.

Although Julie was born in 1974 and Tom was born in 1977, the two share a birthday (August 3).

More athletic prowess was added to the Brady family in 2012 when Julie married former Red Sox star Kevin Youkilis.

"It was definitely the greatest day of my life," Youkilis said of marrying Julie Brady, per SouthCoastToday. "It was a lot of fun, good times. I know there have been some rough times with baseball, but — I don't usually talk about this — but it's something good, and I wanted to share."

Julie has two sons, Zachary and Jeremy, and a daughter, Jordan.

Nancy Brady

Nancy Brady is Tom's final older sister. She was born in 1976 and is the final athlete among the siblings, as she played softball at UC Berkeley.

While every Brady sibling wound up excelling in sports, it wasn't something their parents were emphasizing throughout their youth.

“Whether it was guitar, ballet, piano…we wanted them to try everything,” Tom Sr. previously told The Eagle-Tribune. “But all of them always seemed to move toward sports, which was fine with Galynn and myself. We were both sports nuts.”

In 2018, Tom shared a photo of him alongside his sisters when he was at Michigan, thanking his sisters for "always being there for me."

Tom Brady brother-in-law: Kevin Youkilis

Brady has a fairly famous brother-in-law, former MLB player Kevin Youkilis. In his baseball career, from 2004-13, Youkilis played for the Red Sox, White Sox and Yankees. A corner infielder, throughout his career, he was a three-time All-Star, one-time Gold Glover and two-time World Series champion.

Youkilis met Brady's sister, Julie Brady, in 2010, and they got married in 2012.

In 2022, Youkilis shared that he heard Brady was un-retiring from the NFL a bit earlier than everybody else.

“I got a message on a chain, and then like 15 minutes later I was at somebody’s house and I’m trying to keep it quiet–don’t tell anybody, right? Because I don’t know when the news is coming out,” Youkilis said, per Audacy.com. “And it was instantaneous news, somebody was like ‘Hey, your brother-in-law is coming back.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh here it comes.’ And then all of a sudden here come all the text messages and here comes all the stuff of 'Hey, did you know?' It’s pretty funny what you get.”

Tom Brady niece: Maya Brady

One of Brady's nieces is Maya Brady, who is a softball star who formerly played at UCLA and now plays in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. Maya's mother is Brady's oldest sister, Maureen Brady.

Among Maya's softball accomplishments while at UCLA are representing Team USA in the Japan All-Star Series in 2022, being named the Softball America Freshman of the Year, two All-American first-team selections (2021 and 2023) and two Pac-12 Player of the Year honors (2023 and 2024).

On Jan. 28, 2025, she signed on to join Athletes Unlimited Softball League, a start-up professional softball league that began its inaugural campaign in summer 2025.

Before she was at UCLA, some fans took notice of Maya's athleticism from a viral video of the Brady family playing dodgeball.

With the athletic stardom in her family, Maya told The Athletic in 2021 that she felt "good pressure."

"Not all pressure is bad pressure," she said. "For me, knowing that my family is very successful, I think it puts a lot of good pressure on me, to give myself goals, to try to strive to be the best I can be. It's not pressure like if I lose or I strike out, I feel like my family's not going to talk to me, or I’m going to put shame on the Brady family name. It's just good pressure. I love bearing the last name. I'm just really proud of it."

Per The Athletic, Maya was in attendance for all of her uncle's Super Bowl wins. When she was young and first showed interest in UCLA, Maya, her mother, her sister and Tom Brady all visited the Bruins' softball camp.

"I remember being so nervous because it was my first UCLA game that I had ever gone to," Brady said, per ESPN. "I was that shy little 9-year-old kid that the coaches would ask questions to, and I would just smile and look at my mom because I couldn't even speak.

"My uncle Tommy was with me because he had moved to L.A. at the time and UCLA was right next to his house, so we wanted him to go with us to make it even more special for me."

Tom Brady has posted on social media supporting his niece's athletic career often in the past.
