Shedeur Sanders' first regular-season game proved a doozy for numerous reasons. The Browns hurler avoided the spotlight's glare — at least from an on-field perspective — throughout Cleveland's first nine games.

Game No. 10 proved a different matter. Sanders got his chance to perform after Dillon Gabriel exited the Browns' Week 11 bout with the Ravens with a concussion.

Sanders' debut promised to draw attention. In the end, he was fairly underwhelming, struggling to find his rhythm when matched against Baltimore's rearguard.

He threw an interception early, finding Nate Wiggins' grasp with an errant toss. All told, Sanders completed just 4-of-16 passes for 47 yards on Sunday night. He found slightly more success with his legs — Sanders recorded three rushes for 16 yards.

But it proved a dour showing for the first-year passer. He wasn't the only hurler to struggle on Sunday evening — Lamar Jackson threw two interceptions to zero touchdowns.

Still, Sanders' toils proved fatal in Cleveland's 23-16 loss to Baltimore.

End of fourth quarter: Ravens 23, Browns 16

7:25 p.m.: TURNOVER ON DOWNS!  Sanders rattled and shook to avoid pressure. But he couldn't find a blanketed David Njoku on fourth down. The Ravens are going to win this game!

7:22 p.m.:  Sanders had Isaiah Bond open int he corner of the end zone. But his toss spurned the former Texas' wideout's grasp. Another incompletion — this one on an attempted throw to Gage Larvadain — sets Cleveland up with a fourth-and-five from the Ravens' 25.

7:20 p.m.:  Sanders is quietly coming to life with less than two minutes left. Just found Jerry Jeudy for a first down then slalomed beyond an opposition defender to move closer to the first-down marker.

7:15 p.m.:  Sanders whips a 25-yard pearler to Harold Fannin Jr to move the Browns into Ravens territory!

7:12 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN!  Mark Andrews finds pay dirt on fourth-and-one, racing down the sidelines after feinting the TE power. The Ravens lead!

7:10 p.m.:  The Browns' subsequent drive comes up short. Not only will Baltimore get the ball back. But it will get it back in alluring position — around midfield with four minutes left in regulation.

7:05 p.m.:  Loop ties the game at 16 apiece. Sanders will stride onto the field with a chance to give Cleveland the lead.

6:59 p.m.:  Jackson has the Ravens pacing towards Cleveland's end zone. More importantly, Baltimore is draining the clock, giving Sanders and Co. Less time to work with if the Ravens do take the lead.

6:50 p.m.:  It hasn't been the most fruitful displays for Sanders, who has seen five of his seven pass attempts miss their target. Still, there's a case to be made that Sanders has performed better than Lamar Jackson thus far.

6:45 p.m.:  Baltimore has halved Cleveland's advantage off the back of a Tyler Loop chip shot. Sanders and Co. Have some work to do to hang onto its lead.

6:35 p.m.:  Sanders has been renowned — or perhaps reviled — for the length of time he holds onto the ball. His struggles with timeliness came to a head once more on the last drive, where he was dumped by a slew of Baltimore defenders.

6:34 p.m.:  Alas, a first down! Sanders evades Baltimore's weary defense to scramble for the first down.

6:30 p.m.:  The Browns get the ball back courtesy of a tip drill interception. Sanders will get his chance to return to the field once more.

6:25 p.m.: INTERCEPTION!  The hits keep coming for Sanders, who throws his first career interception to Nate Wiggins.

6:15 p.m.:  Sanders' first highlight...is a sack. Kyle Hamilton brings him down and finishes his move with the "Shedeur."

6:05 p.m.:  Gabriel has exited the contest with an apparent head injury. That means Sanders will get his chance to take the reins of Cleveland's attack.

He seems excited by the prospect of it.

Gabriel was ruled out with a concussion after taking a shot to the head in the third quarter of Sunday's match.
