Heading into the home stretch of the NFL season, the New England Patriots and New York Giants are going in different directions.

The Patriots are in the middle of a resurgent season, as they take an NFL-best 10-2 record into the game on Monday night. Sophomore quarterback Drake Maye has taken the leap this year, making a legitimate case to win the 2025 NFL MVP award, as he has the Patriots in the driver's seat to win the AFC East.

A big reason for New England's success is head coach Mike Vrabel. The former Tennessee Titans coach has made a huge difference in his first year as the Patriots' head coach, getting the Patriots back to the glory days of leading the AFC, making him a favorite to win the Coach of the Year award.

Meanwhile, the Giants are in the middle of another lost season and are facing big changes in the offseason. New York fired head coach Brian Daboll a few weeks ago, and they fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen last week as the defense has blown many leads this year.

On the bright side for the Giants, Jaxson Dart is back after missing the last two games with a concussion. The rookie was a bright spot for the Giants before his injury, proving that he was the right pick in the first round in April and has a chance to be a franchise quarterback in this league.

While this game features two teams with an eight-win difference in their record, Maye vs. Dart is a battle of two young quarterbacks with bright futures in the league.

All times eastern

9:11 p.m.:  New York is driving again after a big Devin Singletary run. The back takes it 13 yards down to the New England 29.

9:05 p.m.:  On 3rd & 1, Maye looks to scramble for the first down, but he is brought down by rookie Abdul Carter.

Carter missed the opening drives for what was called a "coach's decision," but he comes up big here with his first career sack.

New York has the ball back, trailing by 10.

Patriots 17, Giants 7

8:58 p.m.:  The Giants are on the board.

Right outside the 20, Dart hits Slayton, who is able to make defenders miss and roll into the end zone. It's a 30-yard score.

New York cuts into the deficit,

8:56 p.m.:  Desperately needing a score, Dart throws one up to Theo Johnson down the right sideline, and the tight end isnt able to hold on. But, an unnecessary roughness penalty moves the ball 15 yards.

End of the first quarter: Patriots 17, Giants 0

8:51 p.m.:  At the end of one, it's all Patriots. One offensive touchdown and a punt return touchdown provided the separation, but New England is the far better team after 15 minutes.

Patriots 17, Giants 0

8:46 p.m.:  The Patriots make it 17-0.

Maye throws a fade up to Kayshon Boutte, who brings it down for a three-yard score. It's Boutte's sixth of the season.

It's a blowout early on.

8:45 p.m.:  New England is past midfield again, and now, they're past the 10.

Maye connects deep with Hunter Henry for a 36-yard completion down to the New York three.

8:40 p.m.:  On 3rd & 16, the Giants can't convert, and they punt again.

New England has the ball back, with a chance to break the game open early.

8:38 p.m.:  Dart rolls out on second down and almost makes it to the line-to-gain, and gets absolutely rocked by the Patriots' Christian Elliss.

A fight breaks out on what looked like a clean hit.

Patriots 10, Giants 0

8:31 p.m.:  On 3rd & 9, Dart hits Wandale Robinson for no gain. The Giants punt, and it's Marcus Jones back to return.

Jones fields the punt at the New England six and takes it 94 yards all the way to the house, breaking the tackle of the Giants punter on the way to the end zone.

The Patriots take a 10-0 lead without the offense touching the field.

8:28 p.m.: Dart has his first big completion of the night, going to Darius Slayton for 11 yards and a first down.

Patriots 3, Giants 0

8:23 p.m.:  On 3rd & goal, Maye tries finding Diggs in the back of the end zone, but it comes up incomplete.

Andy Borregales comes on to make a 22-yard field goal and it's 3-0.

8:21 p.m.:  The Patriots are inside the 10 after a Maye connection with Hunter Henry on 3rd & 3. New England is looking to find pay dirt.

8:19 p.m.:  On 2nd & 10, Maye connects with Stefon Diggs over the middle of the field, and Diggs takes it for a first down. New England is inside the 30.

8:15 p.m.:  The Giants have kicked off and we are underway in New England.

Drake Maye and the Patriots offense has the ball first, starting near the 50 after a big return.

8:05 p.m.:  Jaxson Dart is ready for "Monday Night Football."

Kickoff is moments away. 

7:53 p.m.:  We have a matchup of two of the top young quarterbacks in the NFL.

For years, it was Manning vs. Brady. Now, Dart and Maye get their first dose of the Patriots-Giants rivalry. 

7:46 p.m.:  Giants wide receiver Wandale Robinson is top-10 in the NFL in receiving yards and is coming off a huge game against Detroit.

He will need to have another huge performance tonight for New York to stand a chance. 

7:30 p.m.:  Kickoff is less than an hour away, with the 10-2 Patriots welcoming in the 2-10 Giants.

7:25 p.m.:  The Patriots are bringing out their throwback uniforms for tonight's primetime contest.

7:08 p.m.:  Teams are on the field for warmups, with kickoff only an hour away.

6:45 p.m.:  Last time out, the Giants took the high-octane Detroit Lions to overtime.

Do they have another surprise in store tonight? 

6:15 p.m.:  There's no better way to welcome in December football than a cold matchup in New England.

5:52 p.m.:  Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart makes his return for the Giants tonight after missing the past two games. Dart has 1,417 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions on the season, while adding seven rushing touchdowns as well.

The promising signal-caller was out for both Weeks 11 and 12 with a concussion. 

5:43 p.m.:  Drake Maye is on-scene for "Monday Night Football."

The MVP contender has 3,130 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season.

5:30 p.m.:  Patriots WR Mack Hollins is known for his unique entrances, and he did not disappoint before tonight's primetime clash.
