NFL Power Rankings

1. Philadelphia Eagles 4-0 (previous ranking: 1)
The Eagles stepped on the gas early vs. the Buccaneers to avoid the bugaboo against fellow NFC title contenders. Philadelphia was able to get the closing defense it needed with the running game held in check and the defending champion beat goes on.

2. Buffalo Bills 4-0 (2)
The Bills toyed with the Saints a little when they knew going into overdrive with Josh Allen and James Cook would happen at any time once their defense came up with a few inspired stops. They get a better test vs. the rising Patriots in Week 5.
3. Los Angeles Rams 3-1 (5)
The Rams' young defense made another huge statement in corralling the Colts. Matthew Stafford working to Puka Nacua and Davante Adams has been more spectacular than expected for the offense too.
4. Green Bay Packers 2-1-1 (6)
The Packers have gotten what they wanted early from Micah Parsons leading the defense. So it was important Jordan Love got a get-well offensive game against the Cowboys' Parsons-less D on Sunday night to save a loss.
5. Detroit Lions 3-1 (7)
The Lions got confidence on the road by ripping the Ravens and kept up that balanced, explosive momentum at home with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs. The defense and special teams coming alive to burn the Browns was good to see.
6. San Francisco 49ers 3-1 (3)
The 49ers ran into some offensive snags with Brock Purdy rusty in his return from his toe injury against a game Jaguars defense. Their own defense is already missing Nick Bosa in the pass rush plenty.

7. Los Angeles Chargers 3-1 (4)
The Chargers made too many mistakes in the passing game with Justin Herbert to be handed a tough hiccup on the road vs. Jaxson Dart sparking the Giants. They need to clean up the offense fast to outscore the Commanders on the road next week.
8. Kansas City Chiefs 2-2 (10)
The Chiefs stopped the bleeding with their convincing wins over the Giants and Ravens in successive weeks. They won with terrific defense and methodical offense as well as more pieces helping Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City is back to doing what they do again.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers 3-1 (13)
The Steelers' defense erupted in Dublin with the pass rush raising to new needed heights. Aaron Rodgers and the offensive drama isn't there; just results.
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-1 (11)
The Buccaneers have a game Baker Mayfield working for them every week, but the bottom line is, no matter how explosive the passing offense can be, it needs to keep bringing it every week to overcome Todd Bowles' bad pass defense in Tampa.
11. Indianapolis Colts 3-1 (12)
The Colts hit a tougher defense on the road and Daniel Jones was pressured down to earth with Jonathan Taylor being contained. Indianapolis is still part of a two-team race to take the AFC South.
12. Jacksonville Jaguars 3-1 (15)
The Jaguars' defense has transformed into a young playmaking unit (finally) with its attacking ways to force key takeaways. What's scary is that Travis Etienne Jr. and the offense are starting to gel under Liam Coen.

13. Baltimore Ravens 1-3 (9)
The Ravens and their mounting defensive injuries keep becoming a bigger problem, giving up too much in the way of big pass plays and tough running in the red zone. They're lucky the AFC North seems weaker, but at the same time, they are in an early hole to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

14. Seattle Seahawks 3-1 (18)
The Seahawks are feeling it defensively with Mike Macdonald and are backing it up with steady, balanced offense from Sam Darnold and the running game. They can't be forgotten in the loaded NFC West race.
15. Washington Commanders 2-2 (8)
The Commanders have kept their offense running without Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin thanks to a supersub effort from Marcus Mariota. Their defense is just showing more cracks than Dan Quinn would like, causing the so-so start.
16. Minnesota Vikings 2-2 (14)
The Vikings are getting their offense well in gear with Carson Wentz, but the turnovers are concerns with either QB and their defense has proved it can fall apart when not getting its own takeaways. Minnesota is heading for plenty of ups and downs.

17. Cincinnati Bengals 2-1 (16)
The Bengals are hoping Jake Browning will give them a competitive shot in Denver against a tougher defense or it might be time to look elsewhere (the Giants?) for a QB solution without Joe Burrow.
18. Chicago Bears 2-2 (20)
The Bears are feeling it with Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams after a slow start and their defense is making up for big holes with some big plays. They are right back in the wild-card race.

19. Arizona Cardinals 2-2 (17)
The Cardinals need faster starts from Kyler Murray and the offense to support the defense better. They're not built well to play from behind and finish games.
20. Denver Broncos 1-2 (19)
The Broncos have tried to keep it together with Bo Nix and the defense not playing as well in unison. They can make a needed playoff-level statement by stomping the Bengals at home in prime time.
21. New England Patriots 2-2 (25)
The Patriots need to love what they're seeing from Drake Maye with a variety of weapons with the offense starting to hum in the Josh McDaniels way. The Mike Vrabel way is also being seen more on defense and special teams.
22. Atlanta Falcons 2-2 (24)
The Falcons are the classic inconsistent team. All their young offensive weapons around Michael Penix Jr. woke up at home vs. the Commanders after all sleeping at the Panthers. They get a much-needed bye to regroup before seeing the Bills.
23. Dallas Cowboys 1-2-1 (22)
The Cowboys' offense was game for the Parsons matchup with George Pickens, Jake Ferguson and others stepping for a on-point Dak Prescott without CeeDee Lamb. Brian Schottenheimer's play-calling is saving them with the defense going from bad to worse.
24. Las Vegas Raiders 1-3 (23)
The Raiders couldn't quite finish off the Bears despite Ashton Jeanty's breakout game because of shaky play from Geno Smith. The defense simply can't hold up with opponents getting extra possessions.

25. Houston Texans 1-3 (27)
The Texans have been getting steady swarming pass defense from Danielle Hunter, Derek Stingley Jr. and others for DeMeco Ryans. It was good that C.J. Stroud, Woody Marks and the rest of the offense decided to come alive to help.
26. New York Giants 1-3 (29)
The Giants got what they wanted from Jaxson Dart -- a running, passing and overall spark to wake up the entire team. His play was inspiring too, something that's needed now that the Malik Nabers' season-ending knee injury has deflated them.

27. Carolina Panthers 1-3 (21)
The Panthers are a roller-coaster ride of Jekyll and Hyde. They had much better defense and offense at home before going ugly in both areas on the road. Bryce Young's play will dictate still if they can finish near .500.
28. Cleveland Browns 1-3 (26)
The Browns are now breaking down in every phase between Joe Flacco's turnover woes, special teams and the defense falling apart on the road.
29. New York Jets 0-3 (28)
The Jets had some more excitement in Tampa Bay but their defense is a sudden major weakness under Aaron Glenn. That's put undue burden on Justin Fields, Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall to carry New York's revamped offense.
30. New Orleans Saints 0-4 (31)
The Saints marched up and down the field well to show their best fight yet in their first season under Kellen Moore. However, the talent disparity had them overmatched in Buffalo. They'll have a better shot at a first win in Week 5 vs. the Giants.

31. Tennessee Titans 0-4 (30)
The Titans can't seem to generate the needed offense with Cam Ward as there's not many reliable weapons around him outside of Tony Pollard, who was rendered ineffective in a badly negative game script because of poor defense.
32. Miami Dolphins 0-3 (32)
The Dolphins showed a little more life in Buffalo in Week 3 but that won't mean much without finishing off another reeling division foe in the Jets at home for some real respect on Monday night.
