Even in Year 7 of the quarterback's career, the Arizona Cardinals are still looking for their breakthrough season behind Kyler Murray. Part of the reason for that wait, however, has been the team's inability to contend in the NFC West.
Since Murray was drafted by Arizona with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cardinals have never won their division, finishing in second-place just once. Led by Murray, Arizona has made the playoffs just once, typically an average-to-good team that isn't quite a bottom-feeder, but has consistency issues each season.
One aspect of the Cardinals' NFC West struggles with Murray has been the team's inability to beat the Seattle Seahawks. Murray has rarely beat Seattle in his career, a trend that continued in Week 4 of the 2025 season when Jason Myers' 52-yard field goal sealed a 23-20 Seahawks victory.

Kyler Murray record vs. NFC West
- 8-24 (.250)
There's a reason the Cardinals have struggled to keep up in NFC playoff contention throughout Murray's stint as QB1: they have rarely won divisional games.
In Murray's career, he has an 8-24 record against the Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. Two of those wins came against Seattle, four against San Francisco, and two against Los Angeles. Every other time Murray has lined up against a divisional opponent, the Cardinals came out on the wrong side.
Murray owns an overall career record of 38-47-1.
