Shedeur Sanders' draft slide is still fresh in his father's mind.
Just over a month removed from the former Colorado quarterback falling all the way to the fifth round before being taken by the Browns, Deion Sanders spoke about the troubling reports that followed his son in the pre-draft process, indicating that bad interviews caused him to slide.
Initially expected to be a first-round pick, Sanders eventually joined a packed Cleveland QB room after he was the subject of questions surrounding his character during the draft process.

Deion Sanders calls Shedeur Sanders draft interview reports 'foolish'
On the most recent episode of the "Say What Needs To Be Said" podcast, hosted by former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel, Deion Sanders said he was "hurt" by reports that Shedeur Sanders was unprepared or overconfident in pre-draft meetings.
"It did hurt. But the Bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. There was some foolish stuff that went on, but that gave them something that they needed," Sanders said. "Like that edge that Tom [Brady] had, it gave them the edge that you had, it gave them the edge that I have. Folks said we weren't gonna be nothing. But we had to prove that. It gave them the edge that they needed. Both of them."
However, Coach Prime also wasn't buying the fact that his son was unprepared for his pre-draft meetings. With the amount of work he did to become a top prospect at Colorado, Shedeur's father doesn't think there's much validity behind the reports.
"When you sit up there and say something like he went into a meeting unprepared, like, dude," Deion Sanders said. "Shedeur Sanders? Who has had six different [offensive] coordinators, who has still functioned and leveled up every time we brought somebody new in, and you're going to tell me he was unprepared? You're going to tell me he had on headphones? Anybody who knows my son understands he's a professional. He's going to go into a meeting with headphones on? Y'all, come on now."
The Colorado head coach has mostly been out of the spotlight since the NFL Draft, where Shedeur and his other son, Shilo, didn't have the results they may have wanted. Shilo Sanders is now with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.
What did reports say about Shedeur Sanders' pre-draft interviews?
Rumors about Shedeur Sanders were all over the place before and during the NFL Draft.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones said he thought the draft slide was a result of "how Shedeur Sanders and those around him handled the entire NFL draft process," also saying that he was told that the quarterback "more or less sandbagged" his interviews, which gave teams bad impressions.
Another insider, Josina Anderson, reported that a quarterbacks coach from a team drafting in the top seven said Sanders came off as "brash" and "arrogant" in his interview.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that a longtime assistant coach said his interview with Sanders was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life," calling him "entitled" with "horrible body language."
NFL analyst Brady Quinn also said on a Cleveland radio show that members of NFL front offices felt that Sanders was disrespectful in interviews, from wearing headphones to answering FaceTime calls during meetings. The headphones rumor was one that Deion Sanders denied on his podcast appearance.
