Here are the latest updates on Boyd after the shooting incident.

Kris Boyd shooting updates

Boyd was shot and critically wounded in Manhattan early Sunday morning, per reports. According to the New York Post, he was "clinging to life at Bellevue Hospital" following the shooting. However, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Boyd "will be OK" and that he has spoken with the cornerback, per NBC Sports.

The 29-year-old was "shot in the abdomen outside Sei Less restaurant after a dispute turned violent," the New York Post said, adding that he "lapsed in and out of consciousness" before being taken to the hospital. Boyd was "critical but stable," The Athletic reports.

The shooting reportedly took place in Midtown on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue around 2 a.m., according to police, after someone supposedly tried to steal Boyd's chain.

The Jets released a brief statement Sunday afternoon, saying, "We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time."

On Monday, the NYPD released a photo of the suspect and described him as "last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag."

Jets teammates have also spoken about Boyd, with defensive end Harrison Phillips saying players have even spoken to the corner, per Fox.

"I just know there’s been a lot of answered prayers," Phillips said. "It’s a blessing to know that he’s in stable condition, surrounded by his family with a lot of support around him. Definitely from where the news was originally reported, there’s a lot of panic and a lot of emotion that goes into that. Not to lighten the situation, but I think we’re a little more grateful knowing he’s in stable condition now."

Glenn said on Wednesday, Nov. 19 that when he's talked to Boyd, the cornerback has sounded positive, speaking about his outlook.

“He’s going to come out of this thing really, really well,” Glenn said, per NBC Sports. “That’s what eases my mind, is that he’s in good spirits, his wife and his kid, they’re in good spirits, and he’ll walk away from this just fine.”

Glenn also said that Boyd "felt really upbeat" when he talked to him.

"Once I heard about the situation, talking about Kris in general, the first thing I thought about was, he just had a kid, and I’m thinking about his wife, I’m thinking about his kid, and I want to make sure that he’s OK. And that’s the only thing that really went through my mind,” Glenn said, per NBC Sports.

In another positive update, Boyd posted on his Instagram story Wednesday, telling fans, "I'm sorry, I have no words at the moment..Just grateful! I'm coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!"

On Thursday, Nov. 20, detectives announced they identified a potential suspect in Boyd's shooting and are looking to question him. They also revealed that the shooting appears to be related to heated words exchanged between Boyd — who attended Sei Less with two other Jets players — and another group "chirping" about the Jets delegation's clothing.

Boyd and his entourage attempted to leave, according to police. But they were stopped by the opposing group, who proceeded to question the significance of their clothing and whether Boyd and Co. Though "they're better than us",  according to ABC News.

While initial reports indicated the motive behind the shooting was a robbery, ABC News reported that no one announced a robbery. A $185,000 watch was recovered at the scene of the shooting, but no one has claimed the item for themselves.

Two weeks after the shooting, Boyd returned to the Jets facility to surprise teammates in the latest positive sign in his recovery. Boyd, however, was briefly forced to return to the hospital due to complications days later.

On Dec. 8, police located and arrested the suspect, 20-year-old Kris Boyd, in Buffalo and transported him back to New York City to face multiple charges the following day.
