Jameis Winston touchdowns: Watch Giants break out trick plays for pair of scores vs. Lions image

The New York Giants have been without rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart for two weeks because he is in concussion protocols. This left the Giants with the choice between veteran quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson.

While Wilson filled in for Dart earlier in the season, Winston got the start in Weeks 11 and 12. Fans were excited to see him in the offense because he is known for airing the ball out, sometimes with reckless abandon. New York decided to lean into Winston's skill set and orchestrated not one, but two trick plays in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions

Here are the trick plays that led to Winston's touchdowns against the Lions in Week 12.

Giants trick plays vs. Lions

New York has had a rough season, entering Week 12 with a 2-9 record and already firing former head coach Brian Daboll. While not mathematically eliminated from playoff contention quite yet, the Giants are mainly playing for pride the rest of the way.

New York decided to have some creative fun against Detroit, and came up with two trick plays. One was a double pass that resulted in Winston throwing a deep touchdown to Wan'Dale Robinson, and the other was a makeshift New York special with Winston catching the ball in the open field and dodging defenders on his way to the end zone.

Jameis Winston passing TD to Wan'Dale Robinson

The play began with Winston tossing the ball to the right toward running back Devine Singletary. The running back swung it back toward his quarterback. Winston was pressured, but managed to throw a deep pass, hitting Robinson perfectly in the endzone for the 39-yard score.

The play begins looking like an end-around for wide receiver Gunner Olszewski. He dodges defenders, and Winston runs a route and points downfield. Olszewski heaves it toward his quarterback, who manages to come down with the catch. Not content with going down, Winston stays up, dodges a defender, and then manages to avoid a tackle before stepping into the endzone.
