Before being drafted by the New England Patriots in 2025 and before playing college football for the Miami Hurricanes, Andy Borregales had Venezuelan roots that many fans may not know about.
Borregales enjoyed a remarkable rookie season for the Patriots in 2025, making 27 of 32 kicks (84.4%) and missing only two PATs. The kicker out of Miami drilled a 59-yard field goal — his season-long and career-long — in Week 18 against the Miami Dolphins.

Where is Andy Borregales from?
Borregales was born in Caracas, Venezuela, which places him in a rare club of NFL players from Venezuela.
He immigrated to the United States with his family when he was just one year old. The Borregales family settled in Florida, where Andy grew up and stayed for most of his life.

Where did Andy Borregales go to high school?
Borregales attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School, located in Hollywood, Florida.
This is where he started to find his love for football. Growing up, Borregales claims his idol was Adam Vinatieri, who played 10 seasons with the Patriots.
Early in Borregales' high school career, he was fairly consistent, going 7-for-9 on his field goal attempts. Quickly, he developed an absolute cannon of a leg, as by the time he graduated, his career best was a whopping 56 yards.

Where did Andy Borregales go to college?
Borregales stayed in his home state, attended the University of Miami and played football for the Hurricanes. Very quickly, Borregales earned the trust of his coaching staff and teammates, as he was named the starting kicker heading into his freshman season.
Borregales took advantage of the opportunity, hitting 17 of his 21 field-goal attempts while drilling all 45 of his PATs.
One of the most impressive stats from Borregales’ career at Miami is that in his four years as the starting kicker, he missed just one extra point. That came in his junior year as a Hurricane; he did not miss a single PAT in his other three seasons.
