Chiefs WR depth chart: Patrick Mahomes' top options with Xavier Worthy battling head injury image

The Kansas City Chiefs are taking on the Los Angeles Chargers in a huge divisional game in Week 15. The Chiefs came into the game with a 6-7 record and faced playoff elimination for the first time this season.

Kansas City came into the game down one pass catcher. Chiefs wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was ruled out due to "personal reasons." In the second quarter, speedster Xavier Worthy took a hard hit from a Chargers defender and was considered questionable to return after being checked for a concussion.

Worthy being sidelined meant that the Chiefs would have to go further down the depth chart for quarterback Patrick Mahomes to find a weapon in the passing game.

Here is a look at the Chiefs' wide receiver depth chart with Worthy in concussion protocol in Week 15.

Rashee Rice

Rice is the WR1 for the Chiefs. He missed the first six games of the 2025 season due to a suspension, but he has the most receiving yards for a wide receiver on the team. Rice trails only Travis Kelce (727 yards) for the team lead, despite playing in six fewer games. The wide receiver is tied with Kelce and Brown with five touchdowns on the season.

Xavier Worthy

Worthy is one of the fastest players in the league, but has dealt with minor injuries to start his career. He has missed two games this season, but he can be a game-changer when he is healthy on the field. Through 11 games, Worthy has 456 yards and a touchdown on 38 receptions.

Hollywood Brown

Brown was ruled inactive for the game due to personal reasons. He had played in all 13 games before the Week 15 matchup with the Chargers. Brown has come down with 42 of his 62 targets for 494 yards and five touchdowns.

JuJu Smith-Schuster

Smith-Schuster is one of the most experienced wide receivers that the Chiefs have. He has struggled to stay relevant in Kansas City's offense, but he tends to always be a solid contributor. Smith-Schuster has played in all 13 games and has 304 yards and one touchdown so far this season.

Tyquan Thornton

Thornton was a free agent signed by Kansas City. The wide receiver has been active every game this season, but hasn't seen the field much. Still, he has 391 yards and three touchdowns on 17 receptions, so he could factor to be the player who gets the boost from Worthy being out.

Nikko Remigio

Remigio went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft and has been with the Chiefs ever since. He has been active for 12 games this season, but he has only had one reception for 21 yards.

Jalen Royals

Royals was Kansas City's fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He has yet to register an offensive stat during his rookie season, only seeing time with special teams so far.

What happened to Xavier Worthy?

Worthy was targeted by Mahomes with the wide receiver coming over the middle. The pass-catcher tried, but couldn't come down with the ball. Worthy hit the ground hard and was then hit by a Chargers defender whose knee caught Worthy in the helmet.

He was slow to get up, went into the medical tent and was entered into concussion protocol.

Worthy ended up returning in the second quarter after clearing concussion protocol.
