Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has not seen much action over the last two weeks because of an ankle injury. He injured it in week three against the Chicago Bears in the first half and did not play in week four against the Green Bay Packers.
Despite his absence, Dallas's offense scored 40 points in a tie against Green Bay last week. This week, they will face the New York Jets on the road and he most likely will not be back. It will be interesting to see when Lamb could possibly return to the lineup. Despite his absence, is he still hard to replace on this Cowboys roster?
NFL Analyst Believes CeeDee Lamb is Hard to Replace
Bucky Brooks of FOX Sports wrote about which NFL players on each team are irreplaceable when it comes to non-quarterbacks. Obviously, it is difficult for Dallas to replace quarterback Dak Prescott, and he has been tremendous through the first four games of the 2025 NFL season.
Brooks believes that Lamb is the most irreplaceable player on this roster. He said,
"The latest member of the "88 Club" is the quintessential No. 1 receiver on the perimeter. Lamb can win as a route-runner or jump ball specialist against one-on-one coverage. Additionally, he is a terrific open-field runner with the potential to turn a short gain into a big play from anywhere on the field. The Cowboys are hoping his current ankle injury doesn't turn into a long-term issue."
This season, he has caught 16 passes for 222 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 13.9 yards per reception. Lamb has played 15 or more games in the regular season throughout the first six seasons of his NFL career. During his seventh NFL season, this is the first year that he has been dealing with any kind of issues.
If Lamb were to somehow play against the Jets this weekend, it would be great news for this team, but it feels like a longshot. Dallas will need him back at some point this season because George Pickens is a very streaky number one option with him sidelined. Lamb is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
