James Conner injury update: Cardinals RB out for season with ankle injury image

James Conner is one of the most well-respected players in the NFL as he has found a home with the Arizona Cardinals.

However, in Arizona's Week 3 contest against the San Francisco 49ers, Conner appeared to suffer a potentially serious injury. The injury occurred on what seemed to be a simple tackle, but Conner needed help off the field as the game was stopped.

Here's an update on Conner's status.

James Conner injury update

Cardinals running back James Conner suffered a right ankle injury in the third quarter of Arizona's game against the 49ers. Conner's injury appeared to be serious, as he needed to be carted off the field as a result.

Both Cardinals and 49ers players surrounded Conner as he was being helped off the field, a sign of the injury's severity. Fox opted not to show a replay of the play itself, instead keeping the camera on the field.

Arizona ruled Conner out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury minutes after the game resumed. After the game, head coach Jonathan Gannon said he didn't know how serious the injury was.

Conner is expected to miss the remainder of the season, ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reported.
