The Arizona Cardinals have fired head coach Jonathan Gannon after three seasons with the franchise.
The Cardinals were the first head coaching job of Gannon's career. The hope was that his success as the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles would pair well with dual-threat quarterback Kyler Murray, but it never came to fruition.
Gannon finishes his tenure with Arizona with a combined 15-36 record, never finishing higher than third place in the NFC West. This season, the Cardinals went 3-14, and had more losses (14) than the rest of the division combined (13).
Here is more on why the Cardinals fired Gannon.

Why did Cardinals fire Jonathan Gannon?
Arizona fired Gannon for a fresh start. The Cardinals gave him only three seasons, but he went 15-36 overall. Gannon went 4-13 in his first season in 2023, and improved to 8-9 in year two in 2024. Unfortunately, whether due to major injuries on offense or other factors, Arizona finished the 2025 season with a 3-14 record, last in the NFC West. The Cardinals ended the season on a nine-game losing streak. Arizona beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9, but otherwise hadn't had a win since Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers. The Cardinals had started the season 2-0, but finished 3-14.

Jonathan Gannon coaching record
Gannon finished his tenure in Arizona with a combined 15-36 record. He did not make the playoffs with the Cardinals. Gannon's best finish was in 2024 when the team went 8-9. Otherwise, he went 4-13 in 2023 and 3-14 in 2025, finishing not only in last place in the division, but also as one of the worst teams in the entire league.
How long did Jonathan Gannon coach Cardinals?
Gannon was hired by the Cardinals on February 14, 2023. His hiring was not without conflict, though, as it was discovered that Arizona tampered with the coaching candidate after the Eagles had won the NFC Championship Game, which constitutes impermissible conduct. The Cardinals were found guilty and, as a result, were forced to swap third-round picks with the Eagles, along with a 2024 fifth-round pick from Philadelphia.
