The Toronto Raptors are going fishing.

That's how ESPN's Brian Windhorst explained their offseason plans: “The Raptors are a team that is starting to make noise within the league about looking for a big fish."

“There are some teams that sniff the ability to make a move and I think Toronto is one of those teams," Windhorst added.

The Eastern Conference will be in an odd place next season because of Achilles tears in Boston (Jayson Tatum) and Milwaukee (Damian Lillard).

The Raptors could be looking to add a superstar to ascend right toward the top of the league.

“Any team that wants to make a move this summer, especially a team in the Eastern Conference, you’re going to have Giannis on the board,” Windhorst said.

Windhorst isn't the first to indirectly link Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Raptors, but he's certainly one of the most in-the-know folks in the NBA, so there's some real meaning there.

If not Antetokounmpo, the next biggest name available this offseason may be Kevin Durant as the Suns look to rebuild.

“Teams in the league are getting the impression that Toronto is going to try to do something," Windhorst said. "I had an executive tell me yesterday that he thinks this could be, could be, could be an explosive summer. Toronto is one of those teams that is sitting there on the balls of its feet.”

It's not that long ago that the Raptors traded for Kawhi Leonard in a shocking move that resulted in an NBA title.

This may be a chance to recreate that magic.
